Waiting is the hardest part!

General question for anyone getting a 2019 or from previous experience:

Is it worth getting Paint Protection Film?

Every time I see a "rock chip" post I remember my clear bra was worth it. I do have 2 rock chips though..2015 black since new, 1 where there is a gap in the hood and bumper..great and 2 must have been a big rock to break through the clear bra and chip the paint on the hood scoop. Other than that bumper is flawless.

Such a shame those bumper clear bras are so expensive though, I've considered them as well but if you just pay just a bit more you can purchase an entire replacement bumper for that price. I figured might as well wait a few years for it to get bad enough that I don't want to look at it anymore.

Ya my bugeye bumper (shipped and painted) was a little bit more than my 15 wrx clear bra. But once you replace it the first time do you then clear bra it? haha endless cycle.

This. I think it makes sense to do it once and be done with it if you are the kind of person who will be bothered by chips (which I am).

They are really expensive. Average quote I have gotten for partial front is $900 and full front is $1700-2300!

yikes, I guess it depends on the location. In southern California, my partial front (full bumper, 1/4 fender, 3/4 hood and scoop, grill, headlights, mirror caps, under 4 door handles, rear bumper trim) was less than 600. Certified 3M installer with 3M warranty.

I just ordered mine 2 weeks ago, WRX limited and it's my first subie (my dream car for years). They say it's gonna take 3 months. Hopefully it comes around September haha before my birthday By the way, is there anyone that can spare me an ambassador coupon? Would highly appreciate it! Thanks!

Apparently Subaru has told Ambassadors not to give out coupons online anymore. I've been a member here for years and last time I bought a Subbie, I reached out and got a coupon easily on here, now, nothing... I asked a couple of weeks ago when I put down the deposit on my new 2019 WRX Limited on this and and another forum, no one was willing to share.

Anyways, congrats on your new car. I have a 2015 right now and loved it enough after 70k miles to buy the 2019! Welcome to the club.

I paid 1100 for Xpel brand.
Ive used multiple brands and this has been the best. No yellowing, self healing, super clear with no orange peel.

If you do spend the money, spend some extra to get the side skirts done. Trust me. People, including you, will hit them when they get in the car.

Can an ambassador use their coupons for their own purchase? I got the invite to join the program but i was too lazy to fill out the application. For $500 i will spend the 30 minutes and do it. Also, free swag.

I went through the same thing as you. Try joining Subaru Facebook groups and see if anybody can help you out or call Subaru to ask if they can give you a loyalty coupon.

No, can be through the mail. Subaru doesn't want them handed out on forums and facebook

At the time of purchase of my 18 I couldnít justify spending another 2000 to get the full treatment nor the 1400 for partial front (bumper , partial hood, mirrors I believe..) but I do regret not doing it now that Iíve had the car six months. I do tons of highway driving and itís got several dings. The car I have is white and the chips/marks are black so they show easy and I have one on the hood that went to metal within the first 500 miles. I filled it best I could with oem touchup paint but still it kinda sucks. If you can swing it, Iíd do it.

In a few years Iíll be replacing bumper, likely having hood repaired and repainted, and then wrapping, spending 2x what the good wrap costs had I done it right away..

I did ceramic coat after a few months of ownership but it is/was A) not as effective, B) too late as I had issues already.

All that being said, itís a 35k car not a 200k trailer queen so.. lol

My salesperson emailed me today to let me know that my shipping estimate has been moved up from "On or before July 25th" to "The week of July 16th" (Most likely July 18th, according to her). About a week sooner than I was expecting, so I'm happy!

Now the question is, do I take a vacation day the day after I get it to try to put 1000 miles on the odometer as soon as possible?...

I contacted SOA regarding the lack of the STI exhaust option and the response was that the 2019 STI comes standard with the performance exhaust hence why you canít get it. This is awesome since the $500 price increase from 2018 to 2019 gets us new goodies and basically a free sti exhaust.

Nice! Looks like they're slowly starting to trickle in.

In case you are nearby anytime could you get us any good quality pics of the updated head unit, steering and climate controls. We'd much appreciate it.

It's very interesting that they give that answer... I would have thought Subaru would make a lot bigger deal about "Now with standard STI Tuned Sport Exhaust" or something like that. I'm not discounting the possibility that the 2019 STI comes with SPT but my guess is that they're simply discontinuing it for the STI.

That being said, I don't know why they would stop offering it, especially since it seems to just be free money for them.

Something weird to me is that it's still listed as an option in the model overview on their website. Surely it's just a mistake, but if they were very deliberately including it for the STI Base and Limited, my gut tells me they would have had the foresight to call it standard equipment. Just a hunch though. (visible at this site, scroll down, it's under "options". https://www.subaru.com/build-your-own/2019/WRX.html )

You canít get it when building it so most likely a website mistake. All the news says high flow exhaust just like the Type RA. The type ra didnít have the SPT exhaust so itís probably same specs as the spt exhaust but the exhaust tips will look standard.
