Default Seat Swapping Thread - What will fit in what.

I have spent the last three hours searching for information on which seats will bolt into which subarus.
Since we all have a passion for customizing our cars - USDM, JDM ver6,7,8 and STi, WRX, Forester swapping etc.... Lets make a list of what will bolt into what vehicle.

I will edit this post weekly and bring up the latest info so no one has to scroll down to find this information.

I'll start this off:

04 STi USDM Driver's Seat - Weight 42 pounds
Fits:
04 WRX, RS
04 Forrester
03 WRX, RS
03 Forrester

04 STi USDM Passenger Seat - Weight 38 pounds
Fits:
04 WRX, RS
04 Forrester
03 WRX, RS
03 Forrester

04 STi Rear Seat - Weight 21 pounds
Fits:
04 WRX, RS
03 WRX, RS

Please add the list of what these seats will fit in.

Also if you have any swaps you have done please add, pics of conversions are also welcomed.

Yah, most of the interior is from a salvage car we found in the salvage yard. The car didnt come with interior- just a few pieces. The car did come with no armrest, but the car we stripped had that armrest so I put it in! I think that car was a 93-95, it definatly wasnt a 98.

Pretty much any front seat from any model Impreza will bolt right into any other model Impreza. STi v5/6 fronts bolt right into my '01. I also have v3/4 rear seats from a sedan. That bolted in fine, but since I have a coupe, a little bit of the carpet was left uncovered.

Yes, while you can bolt on any seat, not all seat belts are compatible - I'm still stuck with a pair of JDM V8 seats that wouldn't work on my 00 RS unless I grinded the wing on the inner belt.

FYI, for the old style, you should be able to use up V7 in front because the belt anchor looks the same at the mounting point

It's definatly a 93, dont worry. And as far as seat belts, I had to bolt the 93 locks onto the 2003 seats.

The seat rails / sliders / brackets from the '91 Legacy can be pretty easily modded to accept almost any aftermarket bottom-mount seat (drill 2 extra holes, IIRC). They fit into the Impreza chassis, I know this from experience. Most Subaru parts are interchangeable like Legos, it's beautiful.

Does anyone know for sure whether the new-style Legacy ('95 maybe) seats are also interchangeable?

Every year they've been available in the US, they've had side impacts air bags.

So would the 04 US model STI seats fit in the GC model cars specifically the 99,00 years?

Are the airbags seat mounted like in a VW? If so, I'm going to have to take them out of the WRX seats I just bought for my OBS.

Yes, but they won't deploy since they aren't connected to anything. Just plug the ends of the connection and leave them be.

This will sound weird... but I hate airbags. My OBS is the first car I've had with them. Something about a small bomb sitting in my seat and dash. Would rather just take the ones not in use out.

I've got '98 Impreza RS seats in my '93 Legacy Touring Wagon. I'm going to try to adapt my original brackets for these seats someday though.

Thanks for the info Eastbay. Why do you want the Legacy brackets on your Impreza seats? Are they taller? Shorter? More adjustable?

svx seats won't fit...
and impreza seats wont' fit an svx

older subaru seats mostly fit

impreza seats bolt into loyales and vice versa, altho i don't know why you'd want old loyale seats in ur impreza...
so add loyale front seats to go to impreza, rears do not but fronts do

I have 02 WRX front seats in my 2000 L. They fit just fine. The only problem was the seatbelt issue...all you need to do is take off the WRX buckles and bolt up your old ones to the seat. It may not match the color, but that's not really a big concern for me. The are more supportive and more comfortable than my L seats. Plus, my drivers-side seat was pretty worn out.

It will bolt on, but you won't be able to use your seat belt buckle (inner belt), nor will you be able to use the stock seat belt period. The latest you can fit is an 02/03 seat because they changed the design on the rails and the inner belt

I'll throw my swap into the mix. 03 WRX seats into a 99 2.5RS Coupe. I just did this today.
Remove front seats, remove rear seats.
Install rear seat back. It sits up a little higher than the stock one, I'll have to find a way to cover the foam you see in the rear window.
Now I had to firgure out how to bolt the bottom of the back down. There were little black circles covering a secont set of threadded holes higher up, right where the WRX seats need to be bolted down. SO, they bolted down no problemmo!
The rear seat bottom fit just fine, but going from sedan to coupe they aren't quite wide enough. I'm going to use some grey carpeting and cover the ends.

Fronts are easy. I swapped seat belt parts from my old seats to the WRX seats to make sure I wouldnt have problems
Bolt in.
Only issue there, is that the plastic bolt covers on the rear floor dont work with the higher wrx seats, but that's anyway.
My drivers side inner was off anyway because of my harness mount.
