How much for a new windshield?
So I was driving one of my drunk friends home tonight and in the process of getting out of the car he cracked the upper right (passenger's side) part of my front windshield. How much is this going to cost to fix? I assume I need a new windshield. Any lightweight windshields I can consider?

Depends where you go and if you have a cool dealer.
Because our cars have the 'green' band at the top, they are of course...more expensive. Quotes I received ranged from $275 all the way down to $190 plus tax. When picking a place make sure they use the proper adhesive and find out if they use the old weatherstriping or give you new stuff. FWIW- the dealer cost for the windsheild on a 99 GT is +/-$380.00 and that doesn't include clips and/or moulding. Don't believe the hype about glass being repairable if it can be covered by a dollar bill, it's more like a quarter! Peace, Oquipah |

Also check with your insurance as usually under full coverage you just pay the comp. deductable for new glass. Like I did, only setting me back $100 smackers.
//M And you can choose to not have the green tint |

IIRC, when my windshield needed replaced, it cost nearly $450 for the PPG glass with the visor tint.
Unfortunately, they did a really crappy job installing it. About 4 years later, there is rust bubbling under the paint all the way around the windshield. They must have used an iron crowbar to remove the old windshield. |

I end up replacing mine almost every year, due to mtn pass driving in winter. PPG Glass, w/ tint strip, quality installed w/ OEM gasket & clips $190-275 depending on glass shop... I wouldn't pay more than $200... FWIW.
