Default PA/MD area tuners

Debating on getting an etune, but I wanted to know if anyone had any recommendations for a protune around the PA/MD area?

Back when I had my Evo I went to CBRD in York County PA, but I wasn't sure if there were any other Subaru specialists that someone could recommend.

If I needed a retune, I would go for with IAG or I would get an eTune. These things are too temperamental to have a tune from someone who doesn't fully understand the car. For eTunes, I highly recommend Ron Watson. I was tuned by Eric at Torqued and it was cost effective and adequate for stage 1 but beyond that, pay the extra coin for a quality tune. Mikey Botti has a good reputation and Bren probably has tuned more cars than anyone, though my only interactions with him haven't been great. Then again, I didn't pay him any money as I was just asking questions of him prior to tuning and elected to
use another tuner, so he didn't really owe me anything so I don't hold it against him.

I had my protune done at JKtuning in Carlisle. Nice guy and he owns an Impreza himself. I’m on legacygt more often since I own a legacy but been lurking here more last few weeks.

Looking for some feedback on good/bad experiences for a tuner, specifically for 16-bit Carberry flex fuel tune in 2002 WRX. MD area only please!

Bren tuning for etunes, and either IAG or Agile if you are getting a protune. Ive had experience with bren and agile. Both were good experiences for me

I've had extensive work done at IAG and Andrewtech, and I've also been through CBRD. and CBRD is the most impressive by a far margin. IAG has been very good to me, but since they've exploded in the product development they've been very busy. I am closest to Andrewtech and with their knowledge and support I've gotten my rebuild done by them just recently, and I'll be tuned this Tuesday by Jermaine at Turbo XS.

Honestly if I were in PA it'll be really hard to drive past CBRD to go anywhere else. The garage, showroom and facility is top notch!

CBRD looks like it's 40 minutes from you - I would definitely recommend them, they do a lot of Subaru work.

PA and MD have the best choices, talk to each tuner and see who you feel comfortable with/schedule/price, then pick them.
CBRD
Agile
IAG
Turbotek
TurboXS

All of these are within ~2.5 hours of one another.

Default Area 1320

After several etunes for my 2009 WRX, I decided to get a pro tune from Area 1320. I didn't have an AP for that car; just a tactrix cable and he had no problem tuning it. The increase in torque and horsepower was nice, but the drivability was night and day better. They're located in Nazareth, PA and very reasonably priced.

I'm between Bren and IAG right now on who to install parts and ProTune my 2018.

Do you feel more strongly about one versus the other?

There is also TPG Tuning in Exton PA. I've been considering them for my protune coming up. They just upgraded their facility as of last year too.

I don't think you can go wrong with IAG. They have some of the best tuners fly into work and you can choose who you want to tune your car. I got my 2016 tuned by JR there Jan '17. Two years now without a single hiccup.

I have a tune scheduled with John Kerr for a carberry (flexfuel and Speed Density) tune. It will be interesting what kind of power he will extract from my set up. Will report back.

Just following up on this thread. John at JKtuning was great. He has deep engineering background as an embedded systems programmer, and new my setup in and out. In fact he made his own product for OBD1 nissans. He tunes pretty much everything. Highly recommend him. He’s typically booked at least a month out so get in early. I left an in-depth review on him here https://forums.nasioc.com/forums/sho...85155&page=172
