Update on the new wheels:

18x10 +43 wrapped in 245/45R18ís
A week so far and theyíre still running well as a temporary fit until I can get 265/35R18ís.

No rub, having camber issues with my alignment however. Didnít check the alignment before the new wheels, and itís a camber issue, so nothing I could really do anyway stock.

Ordered whiteline camber bolts for the front. Switching the tires soon as I get the money, and Iíll be getting either Cusco or Whiteline LCAís for the rest camber. If anyone has any recommendations on LCAís let me know!

Also, how I post my poorly taken pictures? Lol

Edit: Also, camber recommendations welcome! Iíve been seeing somewhere around -1.5 degrees all around is a good place? Iím looking for aggressive street/autoX performance with my setup.

Question: what is the minimum standard for bringing a new aftermarket wheel to the market?

Can anyone bring any wheel to the market without any minimal testing?

Wheels:
There are two NHTSA safety standards that reference wheels (rims), FMVSS No. 110 (tire selection/rims for passenger cars weighing less than 10,000 pounds) and FMVSS No. 120 (tire selection/rims for vehicles weighing more than 10,000 pounds). The rules are focused on making sure the vehicle has the proper size tire/wheel combination. They do not establish performance requirements, although FMVSS No. 120 includes marking requirements. Most wheel performance/marking requirements have been accomplished through industry standards established by SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) and other international organizations. SEMA worked with SAE to develop SAE J2530, “Aftermarket Wheels - Passenger Cars and Light Truck - Performance Requirements and Test Procedures” [Published: May 2008]. NOTE: SAE J2530 establishes performance and marking requirements.

There's also TUV (Germany) and I think some Japanese standards for wheel design as well.


Seems to me in today's legal and product liability climate you'd be playing financial Russian roulette to bring a wheel to market with minimal or no testing.
