Haha. Yea im not so sure I will ever get rid of the civic. I went 33 days without filling it up and when i did it cost me 34 dollars. Thing is unbelievable on gas. If i really push it I can cross the 420 mile barrier to the tank. Its amazing.

I definitely think it's something specific to your car or driving habits. I have a very similar mod list to you (built motor,278 cams, 52lb/min turbo, 850cc injectors, etc)...

And I get about 15-20mpg city, 25-28 mpg HWY. Of course, this means driving the car like a responsible person and doing like 70-75 on the highway. If you start hot dogging around and getting into boost, that will quickly change to 10mpg.

If you want fuel economy, drive it like you would a fuel efficient car. I typically average about 275 - 300 miles per tank in mine - and that includes abusing it multiple times per fillup.

For the most part, mods make a motor more efficient. But when you start getting into the throttle, you're making a lot more power and using more fuel to get there. If you dont use the power, you wont use the fuel (unless something is broken).

If I was getting that kind of mileage I would certainly not have any concerns, I would be quite happy. Its definitely not my driving habits, I pretty much stay out of boost unless I need to pass someone. Im a firefighter/medic and have had a perfect driving record for nearly 16 years, I am not some idiot kid who boosty boosts beetween every stoplight and such. I never do more than 5 mph over the speed limit as I cannot get tickets in my line of work.

Im hoping its an 02 sensor or something that is throwing the mileage off, Im just gonna go ahead and suck it up and buy new front and rear ones and download the datalogging program so I can send in my results for someone to review.

Before you buy 2 new sensors, there is a way to check the sensors are in the appropriate voltage range. I've seen threads on it in the past. I think there are programs that also put out the voltage reading so no need to play w/ a multi-meter.

I understand your frustration, but since u r trying to save money, i think you shouldn't throw money at the problem. Investigate more and drive the civic till you figure it out.

Just my 0.02

Just a quick check as this may be related to the slightly discomfortable smell coming from the engine.

Is that a breather port ? Im assuming it should be covered cause its caked in grime all around that area.

Also talked with agile and they said the same thing you guys did. No need to detune the car or swap back to stock stuff,i should be getting better fuel mileage than stock. They just said something is severely wrong. Vaccum leak. Fuel leak. Faulty 02,fuel connection leak etc etc. I guess i just need to run it down and tear the car apart.

Lmk if want a second set of eyes. Or come to the meet Sat and i can show ya how the hoses should be hooked up.
I wonder if the breather to the PVC & the other one on the passenger side is connected.?

Can u take pics of the pvc location & passengers side breather?

I average 14-16mpg in the STi regularly (no longer the DD however) and that's with at least one pull each time I drive it. Make sure your air filter is clean, your plugs are fresh, quality gas, fresh oil, equal tire pressure and a GOOD alignment. When is the last time you had your fuel filter changed? Definatly check your alignment if you haven't done it recently, having even slighly too much toe-in or toe out can really screw with your fuel economy.

air filter is brand new with less than 100 miles on it, plugs may need to be changed. I use shell 93 since its supposedly really good fuel. Oil change has less than 500 miles, synthetic used after the initial break in of the motor. Alignment was done in march 2011 after the wheels were added and the suspension was installed. Camber kit added as well and car was lowered with a four wheel alignment, car drives straight as an arrow. I will replace the fuel filter and go over my vaccum connections, all my fuel lines and fix that breather port/pcv issue.

That's still not great mileage unless you're rocking a gt35 or bigger. I would average 20 mpg on a head/cam hybrid with 272s and a GT30R turbo. I hit my 7500 rpm redline at least once daily. No more than 75-80 mph on the freeway but I would get to 75 really quick.

If I can average 20mpg I would be pretty ecstatic. I have the daily driver civic so when I have time I will be tearing the sti down and inspecting everything, than replacing stuff afterward.

So after poking around a bit i found this.

I can't recall if that is for the stock egt probe or for an o2 sensor. Trying to nail this stuff down. And input would be appreciated. Thanks.

nope, it looks like it is the end of a male clip, solid piece of metal that just plugs in.

trying to figure out why its there and what it goes to.

Looks like the PCV bypass for a silicon turbo inlet mod or the DRL. I did both on mine.
