Default 2.5 turbo: Header + cat-back installed!

Christmas came early for my little turbo wagon ('05 Forester XT). Poor 'ol Santa was dressed in a poo-brown suit and was driving a poo-brown van but he still managed to deliver a set of equal-length headers and a Tanabe Touring Medallion 80mm stainless cat-back. What a combo

STis beware, this wagon rocks

Exactly! I would have coated them but I didn't want to wait two extra weeks.

How many hours (book value or standard install time) for the APS headers for a 06 STi? Is the heat rap that is sold separately by APS better then coating or vise versa? Porcelain (sp?) is the coating I think I will be most interested in.

Please let me know…

The APS heat shield kit is not included with the headers but we strongly suggest that you either by the kit or have them coated. The '06 STI we did last week has the APS shield kit on it. Shoot us an email for an install quote.

Thanks,
Rob

I had my headers ceramic coated and still plan to wrap them. Keeping as much heat in the exhaust flow right to the turbo is best for turbo response/spool.

If you're looking at coating an APS header you may want to check this link out http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1142975

Markus, you may want to have a look under your car... http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...s+header+crack

Our information indicates that approx fifteen (15) out of 500 APS headers have cracked and AFAIK none of these have been for the latest batch of headers with the correct material and construction process. I tried very hard to get the APS header to fit my Forester XT but there was too much work involved since they were only designed for the STis so I ended up with the Fujitsubo headers. The Fujitsubos cost more, don't include an up-pipe and have never been shown to produce better gains than the APS header. Unfortunately for me I was stuck on EL headers for my car so I had to buy something that would fit

Thanks for the link J, but mine aren't APS headers and they're not installed yet. Nevertheless, I am curious as to why they would crack. Can't handle the heat? Need to do more research.

My mistake I thought you had the APS for some reason.

One of the theories has to do with APS polishing the welds on the inside and outside of the pipes.

No worries I really wanted the APS headers for my FXT but I can't complain about owning the Fujitsubos!

I've heard the same theory about the early APS headers. We expect this latest batch to be trouble-free and worst case APS is always there to back us up with great customer service. The good news is that the performance gains from the APS header + up-pipe combo are solid!
