Default Legacy Outback and Impreza Outback. Same engine?

So, this is kind of an interesting question but I hope somebody knows the answer. I currently own a 2000 Subaru Legacy Outback which needs a timing belt repair plus the clutch replaced. I have all the parts needed to make the repairs, but haven't had time to do them yet. Recently I found a 2002 Impreza Outback Sport for a really good price which needs the same 2 repairs done to it. From what I can tell on the internet, the engines and transmissions are exactly the same. Is this true? Can I use the parts I already bought for the Legacy on the Impreza? Thank you very much for your help!

Yes, you would be surprised how many parts are interchangeable between the year/models.

Thank you very much for the fast response. This will make it much easier for me to look at the Impreza and feel good about it...
