Default 2015 Impreza base (I think) model - No audio from front speakers

Its my MILs car so trying to help out, I don't know much about the cars history. I am assuming it's a base model but I don't actually know, and they don't know either. How can I tell? Head unit is touch screen with Bluetooth and NO navigation.

There is no front audio from any of the speakers. I checked the fader settings and all of that is fine. Rear speakers work fine. When you fade to 100% front there is no audio. Head unit works fine, Bluetooth, all that. Just zero audio from anything in the front.

Any idea on where to start? All of the speakers busted seems different than having one speaker blow, would be strange if all they died at the same time like this.

Are you sure its a 2015 and not a 2016? Is there a blue and red Starlink button in the overhead console?
In 2016 Subaru started installing Starlink in Impreza models. If the vehicle has Starlink/Telematics it is probably a failed DCM or dead battery in the DCM. The front speaker wires from the radio go through the DCM so you can hear the Starlink representative and prompts through the front speakers.
Id equipped are the telematic lights on or blinking on the overhead console? What color/blinking?

Went out and took a look. Its confirmed 2015 by the manual and vehicle registration.

OK...
Did you look at the overhead console? Are there Starlink buttons present?
My information is only valid if you have Starlink/Telematics.
Without Starlink you will need to determine if the speakers or radio are bad. I have seen both happen. Usually the radio fails due to shorted wiring or shorted speaker.

what is the history on the car? bought new, or pre-owned/CPO? No sound with any source - CD/Radio/bt, correct?

silly question - are the speakers still there, in the door and possibly up in the corners of the dash? yes, silly, but we have to start with the obvious...

Next, you may have to pull a door panel (or pop the cover on the dash). If you have extra or spare 4 ohm speaker lying around, you can try jumper wires from the connector to the test speaker. Or, set a volt meter to "DC" and see if the meter (reading) jumps around. It is after all an electrical signal. This is to test to see if you have a signal at the speaker.''

If no sound/signal at the speaker, I cant remember if there was an aux amp in the trunk. Probably not, if it is a base or premium trim, but the amp wouldn't be very big, 5"x5" square/rectangle and silver-ish in color.

next up is pulling the actual Head Unit. The speakers are usually all on the same harness and if the rear speakers get sound, than the harness is most likely connected.

However, you can do wire continuity checks with your volt meter to ensure the wires are indeed "solid" from HU to speaker. If you are going to troubleshoot, you need to rule out all options.

Is there a telematics unit (Starlink)?

It could be an internal fuse(?)

It could be the front channel amp circuit in the HU went tango-uniform(?)

good luck.
