The only Subaru perhaps (strong emphasis on perhaps) worth considering is the new BRZ, provided the engine is not a garbage. Even then I'd get the Toyota, it looks better.

Everything else is repulsive garbage, including the new WRX.

Don't get me started on drivers. When I see a Subaru it's 8 of 10 times it's some left or middle lane blocking slowpoke ******* (with his/her/"their" car usually plastered with woke stickers) and 1/10 times a flat brimmed hat donning moron in a murdered Impreza/WRX usually with ****ing flashing brake lights.

What a customer base.

Some of my friends got into Subaru because I couldn't stop rambling about my own 06 WRX Wagon.
Some of us "enthusiasts" are relied upon to help with car purchasing decisions and car maintenance issues.
When my wife wanted to replace her 2011 Forester, after 9 years and 100K miles, with a 7-seater SUV, I didn't fight her too hard when she said she didn't want an Ascent.
Absolutely. I steered many people to the brand over the years. Other than the BRZ, nothing in the current lineup is remotely appealing and I no longer recommend the brand. I've moved on to a 4Runner for the family truckster, an Audi for our "nice" car and the S2000 as my toy. A co-worker just bought a CX-5 partly due to my recommendation and my MIL is perfectly happy with the Hyundai Santa Fe we helped her buy when her 1999 Legacy SUS went to boxer Valhalla. My mom loves her CX-9, which replaced her Outback. My grandmother is the final holdout with her 2015 Forester, which the rest of us find to be a hateful beancan.

FU for killing the STi, Subaru. I regret selling my RA. It was flawed, but truly enjoyable and the last of dying breed.

If they would have announced the cancellation earlier…..I would have kept my 04 STi. I know it’s just a car but I’m pissed at Subaru.

Can you imagine the markups on remaining 2021's if Subaru announced any earlier?

There’s “used” in the market with obviously low mileage. Cargurus/carvana etc.

I can't say I was worried about being fired but you hate to recommend a product to someone and them to have a bad experience. Now if someone asks me about Subaru I will tell them it's an average brand and to expect the quality and reliability of a Nissan with better resale.

Glad to have dodged the bullet on holding off for the new gen STI. disappointing but exciting to see what an EV STI might be like.

I was very serious about a series Gray at the time. They all got snatched pretty quick.

I sold my 2002 wrx in 2020, I was going to be buried in that car lol. I picked up a 2020 sti that someone won in a raffle. It had 120km's on it and had never seen rain. I was on the fence of a new ZL1 camaro or building my dream Sti because the prices were about equal but in the end, I'm a Subaru fanboy at heart. I'll finally have my sti that I always dreamed about building and it'll be a garage queen. I would've been gutted if I was waiting for new version but thankfully the EJ series motor is what I think of when I think of an STi. Subaru definitely screwed the pooch on this and should've announced that 2023 would be the last year. They could've charged another $10k and the cars would've sold out.

It's fun coming back here and reading what I've missed in the last 10 years.

mcarb, you read it incorrectly. You have to read who he was quoting. They were saying they wish Subaru had announced the STI's cancellation sooner. SoDealer probably could've used some past-tense wording, "Could you imagine what the mark-ups would've been?", but he didn't, which is where the misinterpretation came from.

Used 2021 STI mark-ups are not the same as saying what mark-ups would've been on brand new 2021 STI had people known the cancellation was coming.
