I'll meet you in the yard maintenance thread in OT so we can continue this discussion.

sound good bud!

just a different perspective. I have had the same 2 stroke week whacker and blower for 14 years. They start every time. I do not get the issues people seem to have with a 2 stroke. They are so dang reliable. But the complaints do exist. So I know they are real. I usually chalk it up to poor basic maintenance.

Do some of you clowns actually think that subaru is going to bring an all new chassis, suspension setup , new body and interior new engine etc, and it should stil be $$35,000....BWA HA HA HA HA HA HA !!!

All the standard specifications the next STI is going to have is going to be substantial. Dont forget they targeted the competition and want to have the highest horsepower output 4 cyl turbo on the market. A 420+ horsepoer at the crank FA 2.4 should be a relatively simple undertaking, given that the EJ can make that power at the crank easily and the FA has several engineering upgrades that will allow it to make power a lot more efficiently and easily over the current EJ257.

FWIW its going to be hard to get ANY STI's at cheap prices anymore once the new one comes out....its going to lift the values of all of them. You'll understand why better after it is released.
Bolded for shoulda stopped right there. But you didn't. Because never in your wildest dreams did you think Subaru was going to axe the amazing worshipable thingy because after 20 years they sucked at developing a suitable replacement like VW and Toyota managed to do.

And yeah a relatively simple undertaking to make all the beans and not give up completely. Sure. You said it, Legend.

The no sound on purpose in the Video is interesting?!! Hmmmm could it be there is a rumble???? Or the whine of electric add on motors?????

The EV market is going parabolic right now.....NIO, Tesla Etc etc...and " motorcylces" too with the upcomming electric REVOLT coming to North America and Africa...will be big.

Lets hope they give that new STI all the beans!!! 400++ horsepower please.
Yeah, let's hope they give it all the beans because no way they would actually think about killing the STI.

"EVs are going parabolic right now" meaning Subaru didn't even attempt electrification and instead developed something that didn't meet targets so they killed the STI and will maybe might perhaps dust off the model in 8 years when they are more integrated with Toyota.

I really dislike the whole EV and cancelation of cars thing. Same with American cars. I just wished subaru did what Toyota and Nissan did and bring back the STI for a next gen.

The FA24 really shines in the low end unlike the 257 whereas that pulls harder in midrange and a bit of top

the FA24 has no bottom end at all compared to any modern competitor.

If an engine that peaks its torque at under 4k then dies off over 100ftlbs by the time it hits redline is your idea of a good time, then the EJ257 is for you.

Apparently some of my group members are running less knock than stock with the OTS Stage 1 from Cobb. So sure the engine has potential... if Subaru lets it have potential. Otherwise nawh - Hiking Shoe it is.

Not to toot my own horn but if anything I was was more right than most and definately more than the person you people keep quoting. During all the 400 hp talk (where he was clearly wrong as you illustrated) I was always saying it wasn't going to happen and that Subaru could never achieve higher outputs with their engine designs and budget and that's what ultimately killed the car as they couldn't make a strong enough FA24. Nobody predicted they would kill the STI but I did predict that Subaru would have issues delivering on the engine side.

I think I've postulated before that even if they could bring something like that, how would they keep the price down? How much are buyers willing to spend on a performance Subaru? Maybe the GR Corolla, CTR, Golf R, etc. are showing Subaru that buyers would've been willing to pay mid-$40k for an STI with 400HP and updated driving dynamics. Who knows. They obviously think people are dumb enough to pay mid-$40k for a CVT WRX.

*Subaru Motorsports Design team - Looks at Cladding* "Its not wide enough" lol
Guess it would just depend on the the capability at that point as far as how much of a price increase there would be. We know what the Type R and GR Corolla are sitting at. If they make it more than those, but doesn't perform as well.. that would be another disgusting flop on Subaru's bank acct.

Real wide body plus entire car in matte black goes a long way to improving looks. Weird.
