Dealer here told me that i should change the timing belt at 60 000 miles instead of 100 000 miles.. they even used a sharpie and put an X on the 100 Kand put 60K on their "wall of maintenance"

They say Subaru got it wrong..

That might be appropriate if they're using off-brand timing belts instead of Subaru-branded belts. I haven't heard of any timing belt-related failures when it's been changed within the recommended timeframe.

This smacks of profiteering. SOA should be notified.

Well I've always heard it's best to change them at 60-80k just to be safe. That being said I just changed the Saabaru's at 104 and it looked like this!

Teeth were fine but the back of the belt was as you can see worse for wear. Our guess is that the guide near the upper passenger side cam got caught on the belt, gouged it and broke. Fortunately the guide broke and not the belt.

I was told a nameless axleback would void my entire warranty, also, I mentioned something about how some dealers will offer the STi Wing on WRX's and I was told the STi wing was discontinued in 2009.

Later on the guy asked if my WRX was turbocharged. Needless to say, I'm looking for a new dealer.

that makes sense considering countries using the metric system are advised to do it before 100k km whch is roughly 60k miles

Currently shopping around for a new WRX. One sales guy told me they had a premium hatchback, specially ordered without a moon roof. Apparently it's undesirable down here in So. Cal. I almost asked if they ordered it without heated seats, fog lights and wiper de-icer as well. Instead I left.

Do you have the direct line for BS? I need to make a call really quickly. And is it +61 for Australia or +44 for the UK?

My dealer told me the 2014 WRX will not be any different than the 2013. But he 2014 order bank will end early so they can bring out the 2015 early in 2014. Whatever the hell the 2015 will look like no one knows!

For what it's worth my dealer told me that they will only be getting a few months of production for the 2014 wrx/sti with the new model coming in as a 2015 MY.

Subaru of America's Tom Doll possibly implied there will be only a sedan. There has been lots of discussion about what he said and what he meant. My personal interpretation is that WRX will be sedan only. Maybe the door's open for a WRX coupe, or a 3-door hatch STI. This thread contains all of the information that's out there (and lots of useless crud as well):

That all refers to the 2015 redesign... I'm referring to the 2014 which is expected to be a short run of the current model. I was hoping the possibility of picking up a 2014 hatch existed, in case I totally hate the redesign. And of course with all the rumors of no hatch in the redesign, I won't be buying a sedan.

I've heard from multiple different sources that there will be a hatch for 2014. You might even be able to start ordering them at US dealers now (as of 7/1). This will be the last year for the hatchback. 2015 will be a sedan only and be the redesigned bodystyle.

I'd get your order in for the 2014 hatch ASAP as there 'might' be a limited run.

My dealer told me today...

The new one (2015 model) looks similar to the concept car but boxier like a crosstek/impreza.

They also expect it to be very late. Subaru is trying to push as many current gen out as they can before they reveal the 2015.

Default Update: they've corrected themselves

Just got an email that they were given bad info. 2015 WRX will be 4 door sedan only - no hatchback. Driven the 2014 Forester XT. Fast but I just can't go the SUV route. Time to see what else there is out there.

What options are on it??? The MSRP is under $31k, but considering the model stagnation and the 2015 coming out soon. You should be able to do much much better than MSRP.

I'd shoot for $30k out the door and throw in a free GPS or Subwoofer.

Since it includes tax & fees, it looks like he's already doing much better than MSRP. I like the way you think on the deal, though.

But since we don't know tax rate & (as you point out) options, it makes it hard to know how good the price really is. The price before taxes & fees is more meaningful for comparing.
