But since we don't know tax rate & (as you point out) options, it makes it hard to know how good the price really is. The price before taxes & fees is more meaningful for comparing.
I spoke to a few folks and they all agreed its a good deal.

$29,495.00 +$795 (dest.)+ NYS tax 8.625% = $32,833.95
(this is still missing DMV fees)
*I can only assume they gave me the discount on the base price end of things. i didn't see the exact figures so the $29,495.00 price is directly from Subaru.com*

So $32k out the door is good for a 5 door 2014 Limited WRX
*no other extras or packages added, just the base limited WRX*

I have this offer plus 2 others for different cars on the table. Will think it over with wife and see which make better sense for us financially and also from a practical stand point.

Thx for the input fellas

Hey Guys went into dealerships in the Bay Area to look at buying a 14 WRX sedan. The salespeople would not budge on the price and most of them had mark ups.

They told me that the reason is that they have word that the new WRX will look like a regular car and not drive like a true WRX and that no one will want it.

Personally I don't think its worth overpaying for a 14 model when a new one is on its way.

What you guys think about what they have been telling me BS or Not?

Complete BS. All signs point to the next-gen WRX being more differentiated from the Impreza than in the past. From the little we have heard from Subaru, the next WRX should handle better and make at least as much power as the current gen car. It should also be a little lighter.

In my opinion, there are only 3 reasons to get the current car; you really like the styling, you need the hatch (no hatch on next gen at launch), or you plan to mod immediately (few mods for next gen for a while, current car has tons).

If it were me, I'd wait. The next gen will probably be announced at the LA auto show. Decide after you know what you are choosing between. I am sure there will be plenty of used '13s and '14s on the market if that's what you want.

If you don't want to wait and no one will deal in the Bay Area, contact Portland or Seattle dealers via e-mail/internet. I recommend Carter Subaru in Shoreline (north of Seattle) for no-nonsense deals, but there are others worth contacting like Chaplin's (Bellevue WA), Carr (Beaverton OR) and Wentworth (Portland OR). Carter & Carr have huge inventories. It's a cheap 1-way flight from SF, a reasonable drive home, and a pleasant way to get to know your new WRX.

Yep, it's BS that the WRX will not drive like a WRX and no one will want it. They just want you to buy now. And it will probably look like a regular car about as much as the current WRX looks like a regular Impreza... but nothing is verified yet. Note that there is a very real chance the 2015 will be sedan-only, so a 2014 may be the only way to get a new WRX 5-door, if that's what you're looking for.

If I can find it, Is a 2013 a better buy or should I stay at looking for 2014?

This is the "My Dealership Told Me" thread. Your placement of this post does not make sense.

Anyways 2013/14 are the same car. The only difference I believe is 'Ah ha' radio.

If all costs the same go with the new car. Otherwise go with the best deal you can find.

Every time someone mentions a V4, I immediately think of the SAAB Sonnett from the '70s. That's the only car that comes to mind that had a V4. Some dealer people are clueless.

No "V", no hatch, no 6. Hmm. You sure you walked into a Subaru dealership?

On the unfortunate occasion I must actually visit the dealership, I tend to pass off 90% of what they tell me as BS. That will save you a LOT of money at the end of the day.

Default WRX/STI order only?

Dealer here told me that the only way they can get a WRX/STI right now is order only. They didn't know the actual reason, but thought it might be due the fact that Subaru can't keep up with production demands for all their vehicles. Any of our dealer boys confirm this?

I was also told that they just traded 4 BRZs for 9 future cars(Forresters and Legacies) with a dealer in Texas. Said they were glad to get rid of the BRZs because they were sitting on the lot for too long.

In New England, we are receiving WRXs/STIs, but at a trickle pace. SNE has been allocated 84 WRXs through 8/21 to be split up amongst 63 dealers. Word is that production capability is maxed at this time and Subaru is concentrating on getting more Crosstreks (finally!) and Foresters out.

The only way we are "getting them in" is ordering. That's because the orders are taking up every bit of our allocation. Most certainly what's happening to them. If you want one, you have to order it. Then, they'll have to wait till the next allocation to make their orders. Hopefully "you're" the one that can make it in that allocation. There is no telling the next time we get one in for the lot.

So are they being made in very limited numbers then? Overall production limitations? What about the dealer trade I talked about, does that sound right? They made me feel like BRZs were key to sales numbers for dealers in the south and southwest. They had a Blue edition that had not sold yet.

Seems to be true. I've had multiple dealerships in Indiana and the Chicago area tell me this, haven't seen a WRX/STI sitting on the lot around here since the very first wave of deliveries landed.

The Highlander tie-up was a rumor from at least a year ago. That has been supplanted with the rumor that Subaru is going their own way with the new 7-seater. Apparently sharing the Highlander platform would have involved too many changes to be economical.

I think they are making them as fast as they can. Any more/less than before? Don't know for sure. I just know demand is WAY up.

As for the dealer trade. I wouldn't doubt something like that. With the way Subaru gets their cars to dealers, there are several that outpace their inbound allocations. We have done similar. Nice thing about that sometimes is the dealer asking for the cars will be desperate enough to take anything. We've dumped Tribecas, Legacys, and manuals off on other dealers. "If you want these cars, you must take those also!!"

Looking to buy a new impreza hatch, but don't know if I should just wait for 2015 model to be released. Dealership told me there won't be much of a difference compared to the current 2014 model. Tried doing some research online but couldn't find any. Would anyone happen to know if there is any truth to what the dealers are telling me?

Impreza is due for a refresh. There will be a few minor changes for 2015MY. Just curious, why are you considering Impreza hatch over Crosstrek? price, handling?
