Incorrect, we can give you prices on whatever vehicle is currently in production. It takes us about three seconds to build one.

That's what I figured. So then why would a dealer say otherwise? A deposit was put down for an order before a price was settled (obviously a mistake), & now they won't give me pricing saying they need the invoice first & won't have it until the vehicle arrives. The more time that goes by the more leverage they have in pricing, right?

There's a simple solution.... Get your deposit back and go elsewhere. Heck... you can find out what invoice is by going online once Subaru makes it official. It'll still be way before that crock your dealer is feeding you.

Hopefully your deposit is refundable, otherwise you're in his sandbox on his rules.

Thx. Yeah, I'm considering it. I hear now the wait is 4-6 mos, which i'm wiling to wait before I'd pay MSRP, but of course would rather not, especially since i've already been waiting over two months. I think the dealer is counting on this. I'm gonna call them this week and ask for my deposit back if they don't want to give me a price. Whichever way it works out I don't feel good about giving my money to a bunch of dishonest douche bags. I was planning on buying new subarus between my wife and I every 3years. Deal or not, I won't be doing it there.

Is it better to lease or buy a car?

Dealerships can be crooks. I bought my STI from Karma Cars of Arizona, flew all the way there, and discovered a crazy amount of issues with the car. I was so upset but luckily have built it back up. The good news is they believe in karma, so they shouldn't be surprised when it bites them in the butt lol!

My first dealership told me that no one is getting discounts below MSRP on the STI Thank God for this website and other dealers.

These are for FLEET cars. The dates for normal dealership orders are a short time after. I think the latest for the WRX was May 5th?

I've bought 2 WRXs and 2 STis. They all said the same thing, even when they came out in '04 and were as hot as sriracha. I told them I'd give them $500 over invoice. After a week or two or three they called back and I walked out with a car. Just takes patience.

Curious, asked the dealer how much it would be to install a hitch on my friend's '15 WRX. With labor and the Curt hitch, they said around $600. Funny thing is, they bring their customers cars to us, a rack and hitch install place and me doing the invoice, estimated that it would be $250~ for the hitch, $90 for the install. Where is that extra $260 going to? Driving fee?

To fund the next defense against a lawsuit that walks through their doors that wasn't smart enough to install the hitch themselves. You're paying for their lawyers, obviously. It's a stealership for a reason. They're part of the industry that can legally "steal" from you.

Default You have to shop around to keep them honest!

Email a few dealers and you'll have the right answer. You can pay less than invoice for a new car.

Yep...same thing when I bought my '04 STi. Local dealer wanted MSRP+++

I called a dealer 2hrs away. He had 12 STis...which color do you want? He quoted me a price lower than what I had been prepared to offer my local dealer. Picked it up that weekend.

Local sales guy called me back the following week. "So...you still interested in that STi?"

Nah...bought one last weekend.

[Him]: Great! Enjoy. I'm going to go pick a fight with my sales manager now. *click*

Question Just curious what you guys think...

Hey everyone,

Used to own a WRX..guess which year?

Anyways, looking to pick up a 16' shortly in the Tri-state area.. and was curious if you guys think sub 28,000 is possible for a premium?

True car has a quote at 28,100 in my area, but I'm looking for ~28,500-29,000 after tax, fees, etc. Thoughts?

Edmunds has you covered. Shows you invoice, MSRP and average pricing people are paying for real cars built from Subaru. http://www.edmunds.com/subaru/wrx/2016/st-200733184/

I think what you are asking for is very greedy and I highly doubt any dealer would take a loss to that degree.

Angry that 2015 WRX wheels will fit my 2014 Impreza

I called my dealership to see if my 2014 Impreza had same bolt pattern as the 2015 WRX wheels.
They told me yes.
I believed em.
They were wrong
Can I wheel adapters to fix this problem?

Cheers!

First, why would you call the dealership when you can just google it, and you wouldn't have this issue

Second. Yes. The 2014 wrx has a 5x100 bolt pattern and the 2015 has a 5x114.3

But the adapter also works as a spacer, so hopefully you didn't get too low of an offset, for a 15mm adapter to cause clearance issues

For serious?

MSRP = fantasy.

Invoice = inflated if there are hidden bonuses and holdbacks.

Avg price paid = price paid by the average sucker.

He's absolutely on the right track, start with truecar pricing, that's already in the pocket. Now go lower.

Yes, for serious. Truecar gave the guy 28,100 as the average price paid for a Premium. TrueCar is a buying service that pre-negotiates with auto dealers to provide aggressive sale pricing for consumers. This is why you don't haggle or negotiate past the TrueCar offers.

A Premium 6MT has an Invoice of 28,012. This is probably why it's the average. There are probably consumers that are paying MSRP to under Invoice.

He wants 28k OTD including t,t,fees. That means the dealer is going to take an approximate 1,000-ish loss to sell him a car?

That's greedy.

Would you call a dealer greedy for charging over MSRP? I would.

// Subaru Legacy
So apparently they do not sell a lot of these in NA, hence the lack of focus from Subaru. Engine refresh won'T come until full car refresh in ~2020, apparently.

From what I could understand, the Outback outsells 5x the Legacy.
