help wanted
hi everyone. recently i felt the tapping thing on brake pedal and hear this rotating noise from the rotor, i called richmond subaru and was told it was due to my previous brake pad change, they say i have to polish the rotor so that it would have a better fitment with my new pad. just wondering if this is true and what shoud i do.
any advise is appreciated. thanks

If you're unsure, why not get a second opinion from a different dealership? What Richmond Surbaru is suggesting is not unreasonable though. Sometimes the previous pads will wear grooves into your rotor, and it helps to have them refinished. I'm not sure if that's the absolute correct term but you get the idea.

anyway vrgs, when installing new pads you're best bet is to have the rotors machined. It helps the new pads seat, giving them a good flat surface to work with. There is a lot more detail one can go into here, but for all intents and purposes, have the rotors machined next time. |

I thought having your rotors machined was bad because it reduced the thickness of them wich makes them less efficient at capturing heat and makes them more prone to cracking and or warping??

after you do that next time you change your brakes you might want to buy new rotors and you might want to fill up your location.

now, after several calls to members here as well as my friend,i decided to change my rotor instead of machine it. i heard machining it cost me around 40 dollors per rotor while updating it to a brembo basic is around 200 dollors.
any recommendation on what to do and where to get disk? thanks |

I always knew the process in question as "turning the rotors"
Praise semaj indeed. |

any ideas semaj?i find this power slot rotor from lordco, its bit more expensive than a brembo drilled rotor. what do you think of that?

haha, what do I know? I need new rotors too...and have been looking at Powerslots & Brembo blanks. Steer clear of drilled rotors though, either blanks or slotted are less prone to cracking.
