I emailed the people at Phantom Superchargers asking if they might develop a kit for the FB20 engine. Since they already have one for the FA20 I don't think it would require too much effort to adjust it to the similar platform. I know the layout in the engine bay is different as to where the intake is routed but it they could fit the compressor between the air box and manifold it shouldn't be terrible. I looked at the design they had for the VW 2.0 engine and it is somewhat mirrored (in layout) as our engines intake set up. If they reply I'll post it here. If they are interested in doing this I wonder if we could round up enough interest to get a group buy going.

Also does anyone know if this kit will fit our engines? It's designed for the FA20 but would love to know if I can bolt it onto the FB20?

The pulleys for the FA20 work for the FB20 engines, already have a set of lightweight pulleys i put on myself.

Its a bit of a pain to put them in and you may need to pull the radiator to have some more working room.

So you have the 3 piece set? Wonder if you had to change your belt, although I may just do that so everything is nice and new.

Also, did you have to tune it after or is it bolt on and go?

Sorry for all the posts, but the feedback is greatly appreciated.

What pulley are you using? & how much did you pay for the set?

I am using some pulleys i got off ebay, they were for a BRZ. TThey look the same as the ones you have linked. I believe the set was around $150. The anodizing on them was mediocre at best, but for that price I wasn't expecting much. As for the pulleys they were in very good shape. I would stay away from the "Godsnow" pulleys all their stock is crap.

As for installation: I have a CVT and they are a bit of a pain to put on. I would suggest strongly using an impact for the alternator pulley. The crank pulley, you can get off with some grunt if you have a manual in gear. If you have a cvt, you will need to use the starter bump method. Remember on the crank pulley to put the oring back on as well. The water pump is the easiest. Depending on how many miles you have on the car I would by a new belt, but if its reasonably new and in good shape you can get away with using the one. I did reused mine because i could still read the all the markings on it and the belt only had 30K on it.

Just want to say I bought the circuit werks pulleys on Ebay from Pride Exhaust. They are currently being shipped to me and I just wanted to give props to this vendor as their communication has been fantastic and they even upgraded the shipping service at no additional cost to me. I ordered the gold annodized pulley set for the FRS/BRZ, might have to get someone's assistance for doing the install.

One thing to realize about the FB25 is that it's designed for torque and efficiency at slightly lower rpm's, and thus tuning one is kind of a funny idea. The FB25 has a stroke of 90mm, where as ej25's are 79mm. The ej25's can get a bit rough at high rpm's, fb's can only be worse. I never rev mine past 4.5k.

Cosworth makes them. You would have to custom order them but they will make them.

I rev my impresa to redline at least once a day and it loves it. Put it in manual mode and shift when it's at 6k and it'll put you back in your seat some.

I have the CVT but love using the paddles and revving it up to 5500-6500 between shifting, it sounds fantastic with my resonator and improves the acceleration over just mashing the pedal in auto mode. Engine keeps the RPM's up when shifting in that range so you don't drop out of the power band (if that's what it's called). Can't wait to receive my light weight pulley set and then a tune to get some more torque out of the lower end of the rpm range.

Has anyone had any luck with exhaust mor more hp or torque?

I thought I read a thread where someone said that the "lag" from 1500 to 3000 rpm was mostly gone with a 2.5" to 3" exhaust.

I may have gotten it confused with some of the ECU tuning stuff I was reading at the same time though so I apologize if I am mistaken.

Tuning will probably give you the most gain aside from Supercharger/Turbo. With less back pressure (ie: larger diameter exhaust) you may lose some low end torque but will have a bit better acceleration near the top end. Think passing on the highway, off the line these cars don't really launch. If you drive your CVT in paddle mode (M) and wind out the gears to 5500-6000 before shifting you can get decent acceleration without dropping out of the power-band, I also find it responds better if you ease into the throttle off the line instead of jamming it to the floor.

Default Raptor supercharger

Has anyone tried the Raptor supercharger yet? I have been looking into it a little really haven't found much one it. Also does anyone know roughly how much boost pressure the stock motor can take safely?

About 7-8psi with a turbo and 9-10psi with a supercharger depending on fuel used. I'd recommend a tune prior to dropping $$$$. Especially since you're probably looking at a Valvetrain upgrade and forged internals sooner than later with boost. With that said I still plan on getting the AVO turbo kit and building a fb25 block on the side when the stock longblock pops.

I was talking to the shop by my house the biggest problem isnt it holding power you can make 250whp no problem with the motor and e85 the biggest problem is the tuning solution due to it having zero support as of right now. Youd need a standalone and a custom harness to make an extra 100 hp but, that being said if you've broken in your motor properly you should be able to throw 7-12psi in it safely anything more your asking to shoot a rod out your block.

Save your time & money. Sell it and buy a WRX. Why buy a car that is not built to be fast and make it faster when you can buy a fast car with almost all the same features that your Impreza has?

Preach! The problem is that we have been waiting seemingly forever for a hatchback WRX with an automatic. So we bought the NA Impreza after waiting as long as possible.
