Default Favorite wrecking yards in Utah?

Hey guys,

I've just moved into the area from California and I'm looking to pick up a few things from a pick-n-pull or the like. I've tried a couple yards down in the Provo area but they don't have much in the way of Subarus. Anybody know of a good yard for Subaru stuff? I'm looking specifically for GF/GC stuff for my daily.

Most yards in Utah don't have Subaru stuff, anecdotally because Subarus are in much higher demand here and tend to be salvaged or parted before reaching scrapyards. You'll find Outback stuff more than anything.

Wreck your car then you will have plenty of parts!

Subaru parts are far and few in junk yards in Utah

Your bet bet is to look in the classifieds in complete car part-outs

have you been to a scrapyard elsewhere in the US? In Phoenix I found 1 yard in all of Phoenix that had a subaru at all, and they had 2 subarus. Every yard I've been to in Utah from North Ogden to South Salt Lake has had at least 15 Subarus, most of the time more. Now, some of the yards had mostly older cars (GLs, Justys, etc), but they always had at least 1 gc/gf.

In Ogden there is A1 and Transwest. Those are my two favorites, and they always have 93-2001 Imprezas and Legacys. I'm not sure what is down in Orem though. Call around and find out what kind of inventory they have on Subarus.

I was thinking I'd call around, I just wanted to see if anyone had any particularly good experiences with any. At the 3-4 I used to frequent in CA they had tons of older Imprezas but I get the demand thing.

Thanks for the input though.

just make sure to call ahead, i called trying to source some really simple little parts like the brackets that go over the swaybar bushings, and some places were pricks and wouldn't sell unless i bought the whole swaybar assembly for like $75 bucks(and were going to try and charge to remove it when it's a bolt and nut that i could easily get off myself). got new ones with poly bushings and brass zerk fittings for grease for like 20$

the whole car partouts is your best place. most of the time at these junkyards i've seen them overprice things to the point where you'd be dumb not to pay an extra 15% and get it new from the dealership, or get it shipped online from the classifieds for cheaper.

that being said there are still a lot of places that will have some parts or that one bolt you can't find or good deals on parts that don't really wear either like a arms or crossmembers etc etc...

GVI Autoworx has a yard, they specialize in Subaru's too. I've sold a lot of my parts to them, and know they have plenty of different Subaru parts. Call and ask for Roman, he'll take care of you.

The junkyards in Utah aren't that good, especially for Subarus. But sometimes you can get lucky.

South Bountiful Auto is decent for used parts, they aren't a pick n pull style, but they have awesome customer service and I have used them for a lot of used parts. I'm not sure how their stock of Subaru parts is though, I'm new to the Subaru so I haven't had to call them about anything Subaru related yet.
You can just call them and they will let you know on the phone right there if they have what you need. They are always really friendly for a salvage yard also.

Don't call the places and ask them to pull parts for you, find the places that have subarus and go into the yard and pull it yourself. It'll cost you a ton less if you show them a weird bracket and a bolt haha.

Transwest in north ogden has a good selection for 90's legacies, GC/GF, and some foresters. There was an 02 impreza wagon there about a month ago too. Plus it's free to get in.

Tear Apart Auto and Pull N Save Both have GC/GF's from time to time. It's a roll of the dice as to weather or not they have them there. They don't keep track of what cars they have. They turn over the cars a ton. Go right after the first snow when people find out they have bald tires buy sliding right into a power line.

All the other post in this thread are garbage and will get you nowhere.
