V8/9 motors have the screens in the rear firewall side AVCS hard line bolts. Not in the bolts that go to the solendoid.

45% is the max, and standard, AVCS advance for v8/9 motors. Should also see about 11% at idle.

From your log looks like your left is floating and your right polarity is backwards.

I know people reccomend changing a few things when buying a jdm motor. Mine was said to have 20k kilometers. The two belts outside the timing covers look MINT. Should I still take it apart and change the timing belt, timing belt guide, sparkplugs, water pump, oil pump ect????

Nobody guarantees the mileage of these engines, so maybe it is true, but you never know..
You could change things in stages, depending on how the engine runs.

The belt can also age, to an extent, so it's probably a safe bet to replace it and maybe the tensioner.
Then do an oil change and maybe thermostat (which has often replacement intervals in the factory brochure and which sat exposed for who knows how long, instead of being marinated in corrosion inhibitors).

Then run it and see and log how it responds.
If need be, change the plugs after a while and then default into the normal routine.

hey twin scrollers,

how does one fix a leak in the uppipe/headers connection? I don't believe thicker gaskets exist, and stock ones doesn't fix it

Have you tried block sanding the mating surfaces to make sure they are flat?

the twist is actually visible, sanding it won't really work
I either need to shave that somehow or find a thicker gasket I think

Is this a bend in the mating surface, on one of the two flanges?
Then try to hammer it back to where the screw bore is perpendicular, then bring the unit to a machine shop and let them machine the mating surface plane.
The pressure upstream of the turbo is quite high and a gasket with less than uniform mating pressure may leak, then you're back to square 1.

Timing Belt, aftermarket guide
AC Belt, Alt Belt
Water Pump
Oil Pump
Oil Cooler
Idlers/Pulleys
Thermostat (which should I get) 160? Daily driver in MA
Spark Plugs (which should I get) NGK bkr7eix one step colder?

And for the pumps and belts do I buy for wrx or 04-07 STi?

I don't really think an Oil Pump or Oil Cooler is necessary unless there are signs of leaking or something

I've got a v8 alternator for sale if you decide you need one

Btw, I'm running oem range thermostat. Also, plugs are the original ones that the motor came with and it runs great, not sure why you're considering swapping them.

I'm just trying to cover all ranges. I don't need an alternator, mine came with one. :-)
From the looks of my engine from the outside and looking at the AC and ALT belts it doesnt even seem like I need to do anything, belts are mint, but I'm trying to be "safer than sorry".

What's the matter with the NGK? Why do you prefer Denso? If Denso, what's the part number?

most people use iridium plugs because they last longer. especially Sti owners, due to the pain in the ass it is to swap plugs.
otherwise, copper burns great for turbo cars. iridium has such a really fine spark. IIRC, you have to run a closer gap and a few other things. not ideal for our cars. unless the 207 likes them for some reason? just asking.

I'm pretty sure JDM ej207 cars come with iridium one step colder plugs as stock, mine had NGK's

yea one step colder then stock USDM WRX/STI heat range, and it's not really that hard to change them, it took me about 35 mintues. Not sure what u mean by frame clearance....

i'm told the 2.5L engine doesn't have much room in between the valve covers and the frame, making it difficult to change plugs. as such, most people go with the iridium plugs so they don't have to go through it very often. there is a spark plug faq on this site that discusses all of it as well. i guess "difficult" is a relative term.

I am convinced that the coil pack model goes with the spark plug model, so even if people mix and match them all the time and the engines still run, it's better to get the right ones in there.
I just wanted to add that MY V9 motors coil packs read FK0186 & FK0188 With a batch # of 6308.

The spark plugs in my motor are NGK R, PFR7G
