Congrats! Glad to see that your fiance ended up on board with your decision.

My 19 STi came with factory all weather mats and personally I am not too fond of them, mainly because when wearing my left foot tends to lift up the corner as I release the clutch pedal, especially when wearing boots. Had to train myself to press the pedal differently. Not the worst nuisance I have ever experienced but I have considered replacing them with aftermarket for that reason. Either way, congratulations on the purchase!! I agree that seeing my STi brings a smile to my face no matter how rough a day I may be having, hopefully it is the same for you! Also, my wife is who talked me into buying mine so I am glad you had a similar outcome, just hope you don't get accused of loving the car more than her like I have!!

I kept kicking around the idea and kept being rational and not buying my sti. I had 2 friends pass away a month apart. Both under 40. I was 38 at the time and my wife said just do it! You never know what life will bring. I bought mine the next day!!!

It was easy to justify my build, and I didnt even tell the Mrs. about it until the day it was done.

My justification? Lay a whopping on about 98% of the other cars out there.

As it stands, these new STis and all previous USDM 04+ gotta have 500whp to keep up, and I'm only stage 2 (ish).

Thats my justification but it may not work for you!

Congrats on the purchase!

listen, if you want the STi get it you'll always hate your self for not going with the STi. and second who cares what she thinks. if it makes you happy she can piss off. and why are people "asking permission" to make a purchase toward something they want?

we have a good relation with significant others lol! Wife told me to get mine, was tired of me showing her pictures everyday and telling her was a dream that would probably not come to fruition...got it with agreement to sell racecar at the time and other daily (focus hatch) only regret is gas mileage, but the daily drive is sooooo much nicer now!

because when you're engaged or married usually you include your partner/significant other in major purchases....

crazy right?!?!

well it depends what her 'issue' is about.
If he's spending more than they can afford that is one thing. Obviously she can't go out and buy a car that's way more than they can afford right?

but if she has her own car that she wanted and he has his own car (and will be replacing it) and she simply doesn't like it or something. . .then that's different.
She doesn't necessarily have to like it, or understand why the STI is cooler than the WRX if she is able to make her own choice on personal preference.

What if she wanted a car and he said, "sorry, I don't like the styling, you can't get that?"
Would she be cool with that veto?
We don't know. If she would then I guess she has veto power too, but it has to go both ways.

Dr Phil is taking up this case next week.

The STi has far better brakes, sell on safety - you'll win.

I too use Fluid Film.. thing stinks like hell though. That and Rustolium in matte black, some motor oil with brush in some areas.
I spend a good 24hrs or so to clean my undercarriage every Spring on cars I drive through winter.
