Maybe an opportunity for an aftermarket push in plug.
I think if you measure, the hole spacing is for JDM plates, not USA.

I found some ultra-cheap plugs at ACE Hardware that fit perfectly. You need to paint them. Check it out here.

Bumper Plugs

This is for 2002 Inpreza but I imagine it's the same.

Any tips for someone who loves the Impreza but also in a bit of discomfort? Is it just muscles getting used to new pedals and such, or should I try adjusting my seat from what I feel is otherwise a comfortable driving position? (discomfort happens mainly AFTER driving)
Don't forget this car has a telescoping steering wheel too. You can pump the seat height up as well. No tilt control or lumbar support but I find the seat comfortable without it. I have bad knees and back but I'm doing okay. I find that if I recline the seat slightly it takes some pressure off. The heated seats help on a bad back day too. But I'd say play with the height & telescoping steering wheel (tilt & you can pull it forward closer to you) to get comfy. The adjustable head rest that I thought would be useless is quite nice too.

Few things I'm noticing...

for those that got the remote starter... the range on it is outstanding. No need to walk to a window again. I love the confirmation on the remote too so you know it's started. (I know this affects my mileage slightly, ah well)

Others have mentioned it & I just witnessed it this weekend driving in the hills... the smart CVT adjusting automatically when going downhill is great! No having to ride the brake or downshift manually. Just take your foot off the accelerator & it does the work for you!

Lastly, I had 3 tall adults riding in the back seat & they all said there was plenty of room & I hadn't even moved my seat up to accommodate them. One even said it was the smoothest backseat ride he's been in & he drives an Audi A8. If he's impressed, I'm impressed.

I thought the remote start is 400 feet? I guess that's okay for the price.

In Alaska you're either at home and your car is parked really close, or you're elsewhere and your car is parked way more than 400 feet away.

Thanks, I'm going to give those ideas a shot. I had similar issues with my old car for the first few weeks until I found that sweet spot - and even then it took time for me to get used to it. And even then my old car didn't have height adjust and the steering wheel didn't telescope.

I still love driving this dang thing. It's tempting to drive around a little too "spritely" with my commute to work on the curvy back roads. The cops have started to wait around the corners lately, killing the fun.

Info on the OEM remote start. You're right, it's 400ft. I've had 2 others on prior cars & even within range, building structures would always interfere. Not with this one. Also the 2 way confirmation is nice.

Yeah, for those price and features I can't hate on it.

2-way rocks.

Have you started your own thread with pics of your car?

Edit: Just checked your profile, and no you have not.

Also I was surprised to find that the battery appears to be non-sealed and has fluid level markings on the side, and found the following in the manual:

How common is it to find a non-sealed battery in a car these days? I've had pretty good luck in MN with sealed batteries lasting 7-10 years.
Fairly common to find non-sealed on after market batteries. Put a brand new Interstate battery in the Legacy this year, it has caps for adding distilled H2O, yet it is very highly rated.

Exactly! I hadn't had a chance to check the local big-box stores yet, but it's on my list. I just googled "bumper plugs" and apparently there are several sites offering these for various makes and colors. Most are too pricey, but then again maybe not if you count the paint.

Hey all new Impreza owners, please consider signing up for Fuelly.com and posting your mpg there. I am very actively in the market for a new vehicle to gain hatchback versatility. Am very torn between Impreza and Fit, I realize the Fit is an entirely different kind of ride, but love the versatility. The Impreza hatch comes close to the space I need, but really want some better mpg too, Thanks!

p.s. I realize you're all in the new break in period, but some beginning numbers will help too!

I would guess it would be further than 400 feet based on my anecdotal testing so far. I will run an accurate test this weekend and let you know how it went.
For me, the ability to work through walls etc. trumps total distance as I work in the city and park in an elevated garage. I live out in the country, but have an attached garage to keep my car warm. Firing up the engine after snowboarding would be nice--walk out to the car in the freezing cold dark and get in a nice toasty vehicle.

I get the feeling that the "Love is worth waiting for" promotion was never really explained to the dealers. He initially told me I should have received a gift certificate from SOA (even though I have not taken delivery of the car yet).
c&c car worx is developing a nicer looking front bumper mount for the plate than the subie accessory one.....I got one for the our outback.....they will be ready for delivery in Feb per their website....about $40......for those of us who have to have a front plate...ugh!

I can remote start my new Impreza from my basement (23 feet of room), through the foundation, through 14 feet of hard packed clay, and 15 feet of driveway. With my old OBS, I would have to be at the front doorway and have the door opened.

Not a good idea and not recommended. Expect a Check-Engine light in the near future and maybe some repairs past that point.

So general verdict on stock tires is they suck in snow?

We get some snow in Aurora CO but by the time I head to work in the morning its plowed and leaves lots of slippery slush on the road. My 2010 Honda civic with stock all season Turanzas slip a lot and I even had trouble going up a tiny hill last week.

Am I going to have the same experience with the stockers on the impreza? I was thinking I wouldn't get stuck if the back wheels kicked me out of rough patches that my fwd civic can't.

Even with the crappy stock all-season tires on the Impreza I couldn't imagine you'd be stuck on a "tiny" hill. Steep hill possibly, but even then I know they're not THAT crappy.

Let me put it this way: If you were confident enough to try in your Civic, the Impreza will be just fine.
