Motion Lab Tuning in Charlotte, NC
Hello Nasioc South East! Motion Lab Tuning (MLT) was founded earlier this year but has been years in the making. Our founder has been involved in tuning late model Subaru vehicles for many years. We are very strong in Opensource/ECU and have been involved with beta testing on more recent software releases. With that said however, we have always strived to do the right thing for you and will point you in the right direction - and not just 'another sale'. This is why MLT is the best thing going for the Subaru performance market in our region!
MLT is a full-service shop! We are experts in everything Subaru and a lot more. From tuning, motor builds, parts installations, and parts sales we have a performance solution to meet your budget. We'll never just sell you a part because of some tight vendor relationship like a lot of shops do. Instead, we'll make sure that you're getting the most bang for your buck the first time around. And, honestly, if we haven't personally used a particular part on an application or don't believe in it, we will likely steer you in another direction. So there you have it! We'll be using this forum to discuss new developments and general information about MLT. In the mean time, please drop us an email to [email protected] or visit http://www.motionlabtuning.com MLT is located off of South Blvd near South End, we're about 5 minutes south of downtown Charlotte and walking distance to the new light rail system, we're in a great location to serve you. MotionLab, I would SERIOUSLY cut out all the music from your dyno pull videos... It really doesn't sound cool at all, kinda like old school rap actually... Besides, if it is a video of a car on a dyno, chances are someone wants to hear the car, not late 90's rap... Just a suggestion on the video editing of the videos that youguys have on your website...

Zack,
Yes, we have a supplier currently and plan to carry a 55/gal drum on hand. Much better than running washer fluid IMHO |

I must agree with the vids, but I will take the old school stuff over the newer stuff any day.

Our work.....
Taken from our thread over at CCSC (two weeks ago now) http://www.centralcarolinassubaruclu...php?f=7&t=3138
Below are last week's Subarus that we tuned. All impressive in their own way Most impressive is this 2007 STI. Basic bolts-ons (TBE, SRI, etc) but this one also had forged drop-in pistons. Normally, this nets a little more compression, thus not quite as much ignition advance needed. Not sure what they did but my guess was the addition of thicker headgaskets. It needed quite a bit of timing compared to most STIs. Next is Britt's early 04 or 05 STI. I previously tuned this car to just 18psi tapering to 14psi last year. The stock boost control just couldn't do any more. So last week we re-tuned it on the dyno with a new BCS and MORE boost now Only mods are TBE and BCS. And last but not least, Bozi's 2005 Legacy GT is impressing me. We originally tuned it (see the two lower lines) on the factory TMIC. It ruptured an end tank so he then replaced it with his own FMIC parts. Boost in the mid-range is up there but the little stocker turbo can handle it, but it does taper off to a meager 12.5psi by redline. |

Don't take this the wrong way but what's up with all the dips throughout the pull? Does not look smooth in any shape or form.

Not taken the wrong way at all. The DynoDynamics dyno has no smoothing factor what so ever and has a very high resolution. What you see above are actually quite smooth for these.

This is probably a stupid question to ask, but I figure I'll ask it anyway just to make sure... Those charts represent the power at the crank, not at the wheels right??

Dyno Dynamics are like DynoPacks.....they tend to read very high.

Here's proof that the DD (Dyno Dynamics) reads lower than the DJ (DynoJet). We tuned this 350Z on the DD but the owner wanted to see what it read on the DJ that he had it tuned on previously. So we did a back to back with only one day separating them. 569WHP DYNO DYNAMICS (22psi peak boost) 612WHP DYNO JET (21.5psi peak boost), same car the following day! |

As stated by CoolRex, the numbers don't really mean much when looking at it perspectively since the dynos are tuning tools. We too know how dyno results can vary when you choose different gears for the pulls, alter the TCF, weight,etc.. |

But lets not turn this into a dyno fight. Keep up the good work Motion. Good to see new shops coming up in a bad economy. |

Hmmm I've been on two Dyno Dynamics that read 30 hp more than Topspeed's DynoJet. Go figure.
But a number is a number and dynos are purely a tuning tool. Traps tell the truth |

Cool Rex,
True true. You can bring your car over anytime on me Like for like comparison though, i.e. same boost and parts used previously. |
