Arrow Night Rally, quite tiring

it is quite different from the WRCA off road ones..

a lot of pressure on the co-driver, oppose to pressure to both on the WRCA.. got lost twice, like.. completely lost lost, overall we finished 9th (out of 18 )

surprised, really to see only 3 subarus; 1 black WRX (dunno who's), 2 GC8s (one being me, another being the crazy project car from Stephen H. from specialty)

thanks to my co driver, IBO, though we swore never to do it again unless we're really bored, and preferably during the summer, it was something fun for $5

It was definately very intense, well, for me, because i had to find the roads and stuff... I am sure my maping reading skill has improved a lot.

*Stephen H. told me that he took the car "sideways" a few times.

Actually... DEVO and I both don't go to UBC.

If you come out to next weekend's events, WRCA rally and UBCSCC autox, you'll be surprised by how many subies will show up.

yup maybe boring, try T-bird (in the winter) or one of the WCRA 'brisk' TSDs (more close to the real deal)... but the 'practice' rallies are good to learn the navigation, because on the fast ones you dont want to get lost (actually, that is half the fun, making up time once you are lost)

thanks for showing up guys (even though I had to work).. just remember.. the incentive is that you get the large percentage of the money at the end if there is enough attendance..

heard there was an imitation evo (mirage with body kit) there.

yeah T-bird was how I got started in rallying as well. Scary is an understatement - I went off the road 4 times... with ZERO damage, nada, cuz the softy snowbanks were 4 feet high (23 feet high on the highway to get there). After t-bird I was hooked for life... maybe this year THEY WONT SCHEDULE IT THE SAME DAY OR IN BETWEEN THE 2 National snow rallies (hint hint to anyone reading this....)

Pat, an Open class rally car would be a sight on T-Bird. Especially on the ice racing stage at the end. Do you still have the discipline to drive slowly enough to compete on this type of event?

hehe "slowly enough" is fun enough at T--bird !

I can definitely say though, that a full-on ice rally (i.e. Rallye de Quebec) is very very exhausting... takes a lot of discipline and hard work from keeping the wheels from locking up everytime you touch the brakes... especially the 5th gear straightaways into 90 degree ice corners (where the spectators will sweep the ice with brooms nonetheless!). At least in T-bird you can use studs... but if i go I will not use studs to increase the fun factor... I've never actually had a 'trouble free' full-on ice rally except this year's Rallye Perce Neige, but there the strategy was to 'shadow' some of the other competitors...
