What Blouch turbos do to stock Subaru short blocks. Build it, before you break it.

Added a Dezod Motorsports Turbo kit to this Scion TC. Tuned by Bill Kkose of Delicious Tuning. Not recommended on automatic transmissions.

Installed a set of Swift springs and performed a 4 wheel alignment on this 2015 STi today. A nice "mild" drop for and a new attitude.

This 2011 STi came in on a tow truck today. Apparently it has not run in some time. Electrical gremlins put it out of commission. I will take a crack at it here shortly and see if I cant get it squared way and back on the road again. Stay tuned.

We installed a turbo back exhaust and AP on this 2011 WRX last week and were able to upgrade the brakes today. Stop Tech Sport kit (slotted rotors, lines, pads) installed front and rear. Now this car can accelerate and brake better than stock. Always remember that the faster you go the more braking/stopping power you will also need. Dont neglect your brakes!

Its back... Time to prepare for SEMA 2017. Today we removed the turbo and installed a new, larger, upgraded turbo supplied by AVO. This is the largest turbo yet supplied by AVO for this kit. It is an all new housing and 12 blade billet wheel. A few final connections to plumb and its off to Delicious Tuning to have the tune checked before leaving for SEMA.

Another boosted FRS in the shop today. This one is going back to stock. A sad day for sure, but brighter days are on the horizon. Owner is hoping to trade up to a new 2018 STi.

We were able to get a good start on this project today and remove the entire turbo kit and FF kit. Still need to pull the injectors and pump, drain the fuel and install the stock parts.

Supplied and installed an Invidia Gemini R400 cat back exhaust on this 2016 WRX today. Also installed a set of Eibach sway bars front and rear along with Kartboy end links. A San Diego County Subaru owner will most likely be out and about this weekend enjoying their new mods.

The owner of this 2015 STi was working very hard to get 110% of the lifespan out of his Brembo brakes. We do not recommend driving until your brakes get this bad, it is dangerous for you and the general public. Miraculously I was able to "save" the caliper pistons which were highly over extended. Approximately 50% of the inner rotor is gone. The pads backing plate is also almost worn all the way through. This was getting close to catastrophic levels. It is fixed now.

Completed the upgrade to 1/2" head studs and JE/Proseal gaskets on this 2012 STi that had blown through the stock head gaskets and standard ARP studs. E85 and the higher boost pressures it allows is causing us to have to upgrade several motors to the 1/2" head studs and better gaskets. For anyone wanting to go over 23-25psi, the 1/2" studs and upgraded gaskets are a must.

This Scion FRS is now back to stock and ready for pick up. Hopefully this helps the customer step into another vehicle that better fits their (growing) requirements. Thanks to Zach from Delicious Tuning for the assistance flashing the car back to stock.

A 2007 Forester XT in for a check up today. Customer complaint of non-linear acceleration. Well, it has joined the club of turbo Subaru cars that went through a motor prior to 135k miles. Never a good day, but not an uncommon one for a turbo Subie.

Compression should be in the 140-150 range. Anything below 100 will most likely misfire at idle. If the IAM is below 1.0, you are in limp mode and this is most likely caused by knock. Time for a rebuild.

Going back to Bikes today. I needed a change from Subies, its been a while.

I was able to get my hands on an EBR ECM for the Buell, so for the first time in almost 5 years I will be modding it this weekend. We shall see if the new Race Rom can add to the already impressive 104whp the bike is making. I was able to prep the bike last weekend for the addition this weekend. Performing some maintenance at the same time.

We also began modding a 2017 Honda Rebel 500 today (thanks to ECC for the assistance). All new release from Honda and it seemed like a great little project bike. So, we decided to make a bobber out of it. Made some progress today. Mirrors are gone, bar end CRG's will be here Monday. Rear fender and lamps are gone. Plan is to fab a solid metal seat "pan" to seal up what little is exposed from removing the fender. New LED strip (tail, brake and turn signals in one strip) will be here Monday as well. I already have the wiring prepped for the change to LED. We will relocate the license plate to a bracket (we will have to fab) off the riders right side rear shock. We already have a plan for the exhaust and should be able to begin work on that on Monday as well. Going to fab up something custom rather than use an off the shelf slip on. More updates to come, stay tuned.

Made some more progress today. First time I have encountered a solid bar from the factory, but I was still able to bore it out and mount the bar end mirrors. Also wired up and installed the LED tail/turn strip. Removed the silencer to make sure the loss of back pressure would not be an issue, it is not. So, basic design of the slip on exhaust has been agreed upon. Waiting for the 2 into 1 pipe to arrive to fabricate.

Worked on the 04 STi in the back ground and a 17 Crosstrek too. Prepping the STi for the dyno now.

Interesting find today while working on a 12 Forester XT. I have seen wastegate flappers become "dislodged" in the hot side of turbos before causing over/under boost issues. But this is the first time I have caught it when it is just beginning to happen and the over/under boost situations are intermittent. The pivot rod that the flapper "hinges" on has lifted vertically causing the flapper to bind on the upper edge of the hot side housing. In the pic the wastegate is "locked" open. I think I might be able to repair this one rather than replace the hot side. I will remove the turbo and attempt. While diagnosing the turbo I also noticed a "little friend" hanging out in the passenger head lamp. I guess having an extra LED bulb in there is like getting more than you paid for? LOL. Gonna be a MAJOR pain to remove that.

Hope you all had a safe and wonderful Halloween. While over the past few years it has become a holiday for adults and commercialism, let us all remember that it is really all about the KIDS!. Free candy, dressing up, staying up late and being a kid. We should all try to remember the joys of childhood.

On that note... Luna wins the contest for best costume in my book. You rule princess!!! See you track side.

Closing up for the night and realized the shop is mainly Foresters this evening. That might be a first. My first attempt at a stroked FA20 (FRS/BRZ) is almost complete and ready to go back in the car too. I should be able to work on the BRZ some more tomorrow. Trying to complete it before the end of next week.

Basic mock up is done on the Rebel exhaust. Its not "right" yet, but should be by Tuesday. In the end the tail pipes will move further back so that the slash cuts are center of the rear tire.

Basic mock up of the license plate relo kit is also done. I have plans of adding another brake/tail lamp on top of the bracket.

Trying to get the bike as complete as possible to "show it off" at the BFMC15 Veterans Day Party on Nov 11th.

A decently productive day. From this... to this. The engine is started up and break in driving has begun. This one should be ready for pick up by Wednesday.

This STi had a recent engine build done by another shop. It came in for a dyno tune and we could not complete the tune as the right side intake AVCS was not working. We tested the oil control valve, verified oil pressure, tested both cam angle sensors and are now down to the AVCS cam gear. I suspect the gear was installed by using the bolt to draw it onto the cam. This can cause 2 issues. One the pin in the cam can get driven in if the gear is not perfectly aligned when installed. Two, the oil galleys (holes) in the cam and or gear can be damaged. We should have time first thing in the morning to remove the cam gear and inspect. Lets hope it is not the cam as that would be the most labor intensive/expensive to repair. Stay tuned.

The STi is alive and running with the cams tracking in sync now. Thankfully the cam was not damaged.

The sprocket and pins were actually properly aligned. However, removing the sprocket from the cam was the most difficult I have ever encountered without a damaged pin. Upon further inspection you can see that the bolts holding the sprocket halves together have tool marks from "slippage" at a minimum. So, someone tried to disassemble the sprocket and service it, but failed.

On every engine we build with AVCS sprockets we have the sprockets serviced by the company that literally wrote the book on the process (Subaru says they can not be serviced). Thank you Outfront Motorsports for all the assistance over the years.

We should have the car back on the dyno early next week to complete the tune. The car is being tuned by Steve Ge
