Default Are the 03 and 04 engine the same ?

I have a 04 WRX with the 2.0 and the engine is blown. Local junk yard has an 03 with 50,000 miles for $3,000

Can anyone tell me if the 03 and 04 is the same engine ?
Thanks

Yes the engine is the same for all 02-05 WRXs. I definitely would not pay $3000 for an engine with 50,000 miles.

are you out of your mind thats a huge rip, save up another grand and get an sti motor. not sure if it works with a 5 speed or if youd need to do the 6spd swap though

Indeed.

I sold my "totaled" '03 for $2000. It was in good enough shape the that new owner simply did a bunch of body-work and fixed it. Perfect drivetrain.

Not needed... It will bolt up to your 5 speed w/o issue...

not exactly the same by any means. there have been numerous changes throughout the years. the shimless/bucket valves come to mind, i'm sure there are other changes.

the 04-05 engine is slightly different but should work. use your 03 i/m on top of the 04 longblock
