I'm here for a good time, not a long time.

Also wanting to see if the manual improves.

Still waiting for the STI, but this'll be fun until then.

What are the odds this ships before the end of 2021? Currently car-less and with the way the used car market is, F that. This is the only car I’d consider in the Subie lineup

I don't go to strip clubs and I don't like being teased, show us your tits or just cover it all back up until you're ready to show us everything Subaru.

Nice of them to black out the ugly hexagonal fenders.

Hood scoop is the new Levorg boxy one that sticks out. It's not as integrated into the hood as the VA. A bit of a throwback to the old days.

SUV wheel arches are the new hot sports car thing. Didn't you know? Seriously maybe the wheel arches were implemented so owners of the outgoing models could more easily identify the new ones seeing this looks more like a mild refresh than a new car.

Kidding aside I think this new model will be more visually appealing given the spy shots.

It is comical they even hide the front end in the new teaser when you know it is going to look exactly like this.

Well...not exactly. The Levorg and WRX have always had different bumpers.

Don't they usually start shipping the next model year the year before? I thought they did but maybe there are exceptions.

Usually, but with the semiconductor shortage who knows, right?

I hope they put just as much R&D money into this WRX as with the 2nd gen BRZ.

It does seem late in the year for them to just be teasing the new model. I thought normally they would tease it and then introduce it at one of the auto shows and then announce pricing and such earlier the next year.

Like the 15 WRX was announced in 2013 and then officially unveiled at one of the shows then in 2014 they announced pricing and opened up ordering around February.

The current WRX is a solid improvement over the gen before it, so I don't see why the next one wouldn't do the same.

Still won't make me care to own a WRX, but it improves nonetheless.

Just a modern interior would go a long way to improve the WRX. In some ways the VA feels like more than a generation behind modern designs.

The theory is that the WRX will be at the LA Autoshow in November.

Although Start of Production is in the Fall.

100% agree on this. Interior and door mirrors were outdated since Day 1. The only reason I'm remotely excited for the 2022 WRX is because I like the mirrors and interior of the Levorg. I'm hoping the Limited trim gets the really nice suspension upgrades the Levorg has because it would definitely bring it up to modern times.

The exterior design is whatever to me because either it grows on me or the aftermarket helps it out a bit. Overall I dislike the current gen, but there are certain mods that spruce it up and make it look better. Same feelings for the bugeye.

That's a real REAL low bar. That generation Forester and Impreza/WRX/STI was the worst design and quality ever produced by Subaru. They took the Legacy/Outback/Tribeca interior from 2005 and said "how can we ruin this already crap quality and drag it out for another 7 years?"

Chano aspires for only the lowest bar.

I mean... my statement still stands. It's a SOLID improvement.

Although I did prefer the interior and exterior of the GV/GR WRX/STI over the VA. It's just the performance that was lacking, which was pretty much addressed with the VA WRX, but then it flipped with an awful interior and exterior design.

But for sure to each their own. I'm wanting the next gen to have improved performance AND improved interior/exterior design. It's taken them literally 20 years, but I think they've finally figured it out. *crosses fingers*

Are you still talking about the GV? Because they are disgusting to look at from any and every angle, and I prefer to pretend that Subaru just didn't make a WRX during that whole gen.

As I said, to each their own, but I loved my 2011 WRX sedan designwise. I still enjoy looking at them. VA, though? Nah. No problem looking away, especially when they're left stock. My neighbor has a mostly stock WRB VA WRX that I have to look at everyday and it makes me sad.

I didn't originally love the looks of my 2013 STI sedan but over time it grew on me. The flared fenders gave it a muscular look and the rear bumper with dual exhaust cutouts looked like it was taken from an M3. I never liked the look of the VA and after all these years I still don't like it. To me it looks like an EVO X that stopped hitting the gym and got pudgy. Just not pleasing to the eye. Unfortunately this new version is going to look similar but I hope it looks a little cleaner and more athletic. The interior looks like an improvement at any rate.

The previous gen STI hatch wasn’t a pretty car, but it was distinctive, aggressive, and special looking. The VA is better looking but much much more generic.
