The fog was really killing the day. The track was getting closed because the fog was too thick. First session was ~30 minutes of lead-follow. Second session was ~20 minutes of faster lead-follow. Third session was open point-by but it only lasted ~10 minutes before the fog got too thick again. Didn't get a full lap in. I was able to carry enough speed for one real braking zone going into 3w and coming back to the paddock. The brakes felt fine. But when I got to the paddock, they smelled terrible.

Please don't tell me you sit with that lean when you drive. Unless it's just the GoPro that makes it look like you're laying down. |

Well... I was sitting in a fixed back racing seat...
The seat is reclined by one slot (I think) and it is leaned back a little more than I like. Meanwhile the base is fairly level. I think most of the lean is the fisheye camera though. I also have a lot of guts. |

Started working on a tail light module...anyone know if something like this already exists? Doesn't work with running or brakes lights just yet.

This is going to be like a Motor Week long term test drive update. I haven't posted for a long while. I'm the original owner and I've just turned 144k miles on this 2008. I've had precious few problems over the last 7 years:
2009- Little flap in the fender in front of the rear wheel broke off-- dealer replaced. 2012- Corroded, leaking coolant pipe, replaced for around $150. 2014- Intermittent, about every 4 months, the CEL for P0420, catalytic threshold. I haven't done anything yet. Car seems fine and it goes out by itself. Will get it checked out eventually. late 2014-- something is leaking. The the oil change shop said the front diff and oil pan gasket were leaking excessively-- but I'm not seeing it on the ground or the dipstick. I think something else is leaking down... just this week and I haven't had time to investigate. Replaced the original battery last month (still worked) going into winter. On the second set of tires (prob have to replace those this summer), the stockers went 85k miles. Still on the second set of pads up front, but those need to go. Basically everything on the car is OEM. This is the best car I've had. Whatever happens after 7 years and 150k, I'm not complaining. Driving mostly highway I still get about 29/30 mpgs. That is all. See you at the next long term update... and keep posting your pics and videos. One day I expect to pass this car on to a young driver who will give it a much more exciting life than the one I have. :-) |

Apparently some years got a warranty extension on the Cats so if I were you, I'd check the dealer. I'm going to find out Monday I think. I'm incredibly happy with my car as well. |

I've started to notice my clutch making some noise at (69k). Most noticeable when the car is left overnight and in 40-50 degree weather. Noise is more along the lines of a squeal and only occurs when the clutch pedal is pressed all the way in. Noise seems to be coming from the center of the car where the clutch is located not just the pedal assembly. The clutch still works normally and the noise goes away after the car has fully warmed up. The only other time I had issues was around 36k miles. At that point the clutch pedal squeeked while in the process of pressing it, not fully pressed as in my current situation. The dealer inspected it, regreased the pedal assembly and it went away.
I am assuming it could be the throwout bearing thats making the noise due to lack of grease/oil? or could it be something simple as just regrease the clutch pedal assembly? (lol). While on this topic-------- 1)For those of you who have had to replace your clutch, what clutch did you go with? 2) Also, did you just get your oem flywheel resurfaced or if aftermarket, what did you go with? Pictures and links are greatly appreciated, thanks! |

^ Sounds cheap in comparison to my lovely Christmas gift of a leaking head gasket (both sides). 67k miles. Ridiculous. Having a dealership replace it. Think I'm going to request they sand the block. A whiz wheel doesn't seem like an acceptable method of repair for me.

Thanks man! Luckily Subaru of America is covering a portion of the bill. I'm out of warranty by 7k miles and a couple years. I can't complain as they are covering a lot but it still sucks. |
