I see your posts going back years (thx for all the useful info- I've read a lot of it more than once).

Do you have any insight on why 4th gear pulls sometimes false knock on spool up?

More load placed on the engine in higher gears. Could possibly be real knock or engine noise. I try adding two gallons of good fuel (100 octane pump if you have it local) or pull a few degrees of timing out and see if you can replicate the problem. If you still see the noise it may be false, if the knock goes away assume it is real.

Assuming it's false, what makes that happen in only higher gears? I ask because I've experienced it. And, no amount of xylene or timing pulled fixed it.

In my case I fixed 98% of it by only using the oem crank pulley but it still happens from time to time and..... Its always false.

One other instance it didn't happen, but not tons of testing was being done, is when I was tuned pig rich on a 20g to keep Temps down on oem pistons. The only thing I could think was lower cylinder pressures.

FWIW I now run only 100 octane.

I'd take it cell by cell but I dont know if that's appropriate being false knock vs real.

Thx for your input by the way.

I dealt with false knock a lot on the 16-bit ECU. Have since switched over to an aftermarket with configurable knock control and haven't looked back. I would assume the stock ECU knock filtering is still letting noise in. I don't know jack about the new ECUs unfortunately.

There seems to be a lot of tables for knock sensor adjustment in access tuner, but.... I don't touch those yet. It's much easier (and safer) for me to pull 5* or add some octane.
