You don't need to worry about clearing suspension. You need to worry about rubbing in the fender. That 1/2" further out is a bi g difference, and will cause you to rub without a major rolling of the fenders.

Also, that 18" setup is going to weigh a LOT more. You'll lose performance, steering feel, MPG, etc. What you need to do is comapre it to the stock setup to really see the difference in weight and fitment.

http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp?...9&text2=18x9.5

The last thing you want to cheap out on is the tire. This is you're only contact with the road and makes a huge difference with performance, especially under braking.

Only difference really is that the 18x9.5 sticks out half an inch further..(leaves even more room for suspension than the 17x9's)

Decisions.. decisions..

Based on your questions and how the options you're considering have jumped all over the damn place for the past 3 or 4 days, I think you really need to take that 4 weeks and learn something before you make a mistake. You've got some very knowledgeable folks trying to help you, but you keep bouncing from one idea to the next without seeming to acknowledge anything that you're being told.

I'd still recommend getting the 17x9 +42 DPT with 245/40-17 tires.

The Hankook V12s don't tend to run wide AFAIK.

id rather have the nexens than the v12 hankooks

yeah...i liked the hankooks THAT much

I had a student with them on his STI. They held up surprisingly well. That's my only really experience with them. I can't imagine the Nexens being any better. Really...both tires aren't good.

Doesn't matter, OP will probably do whatever anyway.

AAAHHHH

what about 255/35ZR18 RE 94Y FALKEN FK-453 ?

Im having the hardest time as you guys can see..

The 18x9 +40's would fit nicely.. but they are about $400 more than the 18x9.5 +35

Wish the offset wasn't as extreme on the 9.5's :/

With a fender roller.. is it possible to keep rolling(after being done) and heating and applying pressure to create some pull to help clear the +35's?

yeah..

I decided to wait out..

I was about to order the 17x9 Rota DPT - Flat Black (5x100/114.3/e42/73)-
Bolt Pattern: 5x100 & 5x114 (dual drill)
Offset: 42
Hub Bore: 73

- 17x8 Tire Options 245/40ZR17 95Y Hankook Ventus V12 evo K122
- Lug Options 20 pcs. 12 x 1.25 Wheeltek Splinedrive Lugs - Black

but backed off.
Going to keep looking around. Open for suggestions.

When I look at the side of my car with the stock 17x7 +55 wheels with 225/45's the wheels look small and there is a HUGE fender gap all around.

If I did get the above setup up(17x9) from the side itll look exactly the same. But from behind youll notice a wider tire and a more aggressive offset. I am still going to have that large fender gap. This was the MAIN reason why I wanted to get 18" wheels. But then again.. they will have the same diameter. So the exact same fender gap remains. Except now Ill have more wheel and less tire(from the side). If I do go with a larger diameter I am just hurting my performance. So I guess the ideal size would be 17x9 +42 and 245/40's with some nice coilovers. I am going to wait until I find a good deal on some 17x9's with some good tires. I hope I run across some soon.

Feel free to post links if you guys can find good deals. Thanks

If "gap" is your problem then you should look at springs to drop the car a few inches.
Just my very uneducated guess.

That's part of it.

I just need to keep looking around for a good fitment for stock, and that can be also nicely fitted once I get coilovers down the road. I still think the 17x9's will do the job.

Just need to find a good deal.

no, I really didn't know anything about wheels/tires before I made this thread.

you guys aren't easy guys to work with(except for mavic who has helped me a LOT)

Im just trying to do it right and not order something that I will have to replace down the road. I want to go forwards.

Many of the older threads which you guys were in were also very helpful.

I know my tire size/wheel size I want.. now I need to figure out what tire to get.

I am going to start with a lower budget tire, and upgrade them once summer comes along to nice ones.

Options currently are:

Federal SS-595
Nexon3000
and the Falken FK 452

I know all these tires aren't great, but which one would be better?(they are also listed from cheapest to highest price)

Don't know if they're the style or color you'd want, but you might be able to get a good deal on these. Very nice, rare wheels. IMO

This is a good deal. The tires are a little tall, but they should work fine with your stock suspension.
