I'm wondering if the R & T results will be similar to the Autoweek results?

R&T nominees
2004 RX-8
2004 BMW 530i
2004 Porshe 911 GT3
2004 Subaru Impreza WRX STi
2004 Nissan 350z Roadster.

I have a feeling one of the German cars are going to win this competition also.

But I think the STI should win. Not just saying that because I own one like everybody else here on NASIOC.
But because it is the total package.
Lots of usuable power, enough space for the whole family, AWD traction, a real trunk to put most things you'll ever need, extreme good bang for the buck in this field of cars.
Only things against it are styling and finish/refinement.

note: the styling comment is just what I've observed from car reviews have said, I love it.

eh, road and track - and i quote:

"it once was hard to think of a cadillac in the realm of the world's top sports sedans, but the cts-v, with its corvette heart and expert chassis tuning, belongs there. along with the new pontiac gto, this cadillac proves that gm is now building cars that enthusiasts truly want."

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

ok, so gm has made some improvements but come on guys, lets put our enthusiasm in it's proper perspective!

giggle giggle, "along with the new pontiac gto".

I dunno, I think 350 and 400hp stock are pretty good numbers, and a RWD car can be a hoot.

I would love to have a 400hp caddy to thrash on.

I actually like the Cadillac and the new GTO. They are really excellent cars and I think GM hit the spot on the nail.

yeah but argueably with ford having taken the direction it has with the new mustang (though i HATE the front end and lack of side airscoops compared to the concept stang) getting back to the roots as it were, the gto is a huge disappointment for muscle car fans. expect sales to average.

Lots of muscle car fans seem to buy their cars on its looks, not power, handling and performance merits. SAD REALLY.

America stopped building muscle long time ago, Australia never did.
AMERICAN MUSCLE = hood scoops, dual exhaust and body kits
AUSTRALIAN MUSCLE = understated looks with excellent power, handling, comfort, quality and refinement.

True GTO = ferrari.
Pontiac GTO HAVE NEVER BEATEN a ferrrari, monaros have beaten them over sprint and 24hr.

the new M5 well own the caddy

500+ hp V10 0-60 in under 4 seconds

so you would rather have a caddy that will fall apart after 50000 miles or a REALLY fast BMW?

You are thinking of the El Camino. It's a Cruck. A car/truck. Eldorrado was a Caddy (Or is, I don't keep up much on Caddilac, although the Escalade is nice).

cheap interior.. sounded really beefy tho

that's right - the el camino. i read somewhere that it was supposed to be very popular in austrailia. i think it's called something different there though?

and yeah, a bmw m5.. drool... though since the a4's of the late 90's audi's been kicking some arse. between and m5 and an s6 or an m3 and an s4, it'd have to drive them both to make the final decision but i'd lean towards the audi's b/c of awd and racing history

Not true. At the latest Nurburgring test, BMW recorded a 0-100 km/h (62 mph) run of 4.5 seconds on the 5.5 Liter V-10. I'm sure it will get a tiny bit lower, but it will absolutely NOT be below 4 seconds. I would expect 4.2 or 4.3 to be about it.

0-100mph should be in the neighborhood of 10 seconds i assume? (if not high 9's)

That seems like a good ballpark figure. I will admit, that is a lot of horsepower to be moving a car. But you have to remember, it is still a sedan, which means there is a considerable amount of weight to move.

there isn't anything that comes from Michigan that has better interior build quality than the cheapest of Japanese cars. Cheap plastic, HUGE tolerances, and they just look awful, though I must say the WRX's interior build quality has suffered over my 2000 RS, but not half as bad as any GM product I've ever seen.

R&T, C&D, and MT are all sponsor driven, and complete crap.

Can't argue with power, but if the interior is going to fall apart in my 400hp Caddy, then I'd rather drive the 140hp Honda.
