Good to see you're going with the Knu wiring.

I personally prefer ported enclosures but they typically take up the most space and weight.

Sealed enclosures tend to be more accurate and are suited well for jazz, rock, metal, and the like.

Is this a sedan or hatch?

Edit: Quick search results

Sealed http://www.crutchfield.com/p_777BB12...er.html?tp=127

Ported http://www.crutchfield.com/p_777BB12...er.html?tp=127 Tuning freq of 34Hz is pretty decent for a prefab enclosure.

Honestly the 1300 watts your going to be putting onto that Type R is going to be a little much. I would think about a different amplifier.

Also, using a bad quality prefab box with a sub with that much power you are going to get terrible rattles from your enclosure.

Spend some money on a custom enclosure, built to spec by a professional.

The Type R will handle it.

But the enclosure from sonic electronix is too small. Don't get it.

It's always beettrr because I can always tell the amp to give it less power than tell it to give more

That's the exact same box I was looking at for my 2011 hatch. I ordered it from woofersetc but they didn't have the exact one in stock. They had one that was very slightly smaller and it is perfect fit in the rear hatch along the left side.

I have an Image dynamics 12" IDQ in it and it sounds great!

Not reading everybody else's suggestions but rather yours on what type of box you are looking for really depends on you and what kind of sound you want!!! If your looking for a tight clean sound then go with a sealed box. If you want extra loud and want the world to know your coming then go with the ported

Have you considered going with fiberglass? It will be a sealed enclosure to produce tight, accurate sound and because the shape is completely custom the footprint of the box will be minimal. A hatch presents all kinds of cool places for a fiberglass enclosure.

Gain is not a volume control. Do some more research.

That would work...it's a little too big for my liking though. Which ever sealed enclosure you go with, stuff it with polyfill.

The speaker has a recommended cubic ft size..... I think it was .65 to 1.25 for a sealed box. That gives you room to do what you want with it. Or you can always just buy one

Honestly, http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...ker_HB112.aspx will work fine but it's a little too big. You can get away with it but Alpine recommends a final volume of 0.85cf for the ideal sealed.
