Default 2008 wrx whine or leak?

So my car started making a weird noise when I hit around 3k rpm. I have a stock bpv and usually can't hear much but I can actually hear my turbo a bit now. It threw a check engine light but I can't check it cause my access-port stopped working. (Screen went black) What could be making this sound? It's almost like a weird boost noise mixed with a whining noise, I'm not sure where it's coming from but it only happens under boost. I'll try to get a video. Basically should I be checking for leaks or take off the turbo and check if it's utterly ****ed or what.

Can't find any obvious leaks but the noises are getting crazier, and the turbo itself is making the noise, sounds kinda like rattling. And I stated my car today and my exhaust shot out a steady stream of smoke, turned it off, gonna take the turbo off today and look at it but unless it's obvious I won't know what I'm looking for. I want to just replace the turbo and get a direct replacement as I planned on selling my car soon so no point upgrading, what are my options for a direct bolt on short of getting one from sugar for way too much money

What signs did you see that confirms it is the turbo?

Do not start the engine again until the turbo is replaced and you make sure there is no metal on the oil system.

Metal left in there will take out the new turbo.

The smoke and the noise coming directly from the turbo and the fact that I don't have boost. I think I have secured a new turbo I just need to get a new oil supply line because that's probably what screwed my turbo in the first place, looking for recommendations.

Again Not a gear head but no stranger to turning a wrench but it seems pretty obvious it's the turbo, I guess I won't know for sure until I pull it out. I've got a new one lined up I just need to swap that line out so the new turbo doesn't suffer the same fate. Any suggestions guys?

From what I'm seeing the stock oil supply feeds both the turbo and the avcs? But aftermarket oil supply lines I keep looking at look to be just one line? What am I missing here?

How many miles on your turbo? I occasionally get smoke from my exhaust when taking off from a stop but it seems to be my turbo seals. Still boosts fine though

100k miles, it's grinding and doesnt make boost, the turbo is effed.

Yeah I plan to but rather than take everything apart, install the new turbo and then try to place the stock hard line back on with the filter removed I'd rather just spend a little extra and get a nice braided line that I know will work well.

It sounds like the grinding can maybe be the turbine itself rubbing against the housing of the turbo. You've checked it for play already?

I just purchased a replacement and will be installing it when I get it, also putting on a new oil supply line, I can get a more in depth look at the turbo then
