^ finally someone using the round thing on their shoulders
the only problem is i think a separate WRX and STi is locked in, given how much we've heard about them wanting to separate the WRX from the basic impreza lineup. BUT i think youre right about not offering a simply turbod version of the BRZ for several reasons including its competition with the WRX (although i do think they see the wrx as aimed at people who want a more practical but sporty car, but not for sti cash). all of this is why im kind of hoping (getting away from objective thinknig ) they do an all out STi version, turbo, brembos, etc and then a bare bones version which pumps up the NA, but lightens things up and steps up brakes etc (which is what i really want)

I would rather have subaru remake the 2007 STI with 2 doors and with an interior redesign instead of the BRZ. Now that would be an amazing!

most realistic scenario Option C: 1. BRZ tuned by STI, slightly lightened, 5-10 hp boost and handling improvements... |

I am just happy that it looks like I can fit in it (6'4") . I liked the miata and s2000 but those are designed for "little people". Can't wait to see one in the flesh. Hope they use this as a new platform and do a hatch/wagon version. I am all in if I fit otherwise my 25K I have saved is going for a new Duacti 1199 Panigale. It makes the same HP...lol

Curious to see if when they do turbo model if it will still have the intake manifold facing the front... Either way the set up looks clean in the motor.

rwd ftw
this is all too similar to the s2k's specs of roughly 230hp and 170 lb/tq. at 2700 lbs. or so, and they are great fun with the high revs and amazing suspension, stiffened for track runs right out the box... and I imagine this will have even better suspension and the amazing boxer sound and feel.. A turbo version would be perfect definitely, turbo'd s2k's rape z06's and sti's... with the right sized turbo, engine build and tune of course

A quick spooling turbo would be great on the BRZ. |

"GT 86 development engineer Yoshi Sasaki says the GT 86 is for those who are bored with cars that are too powerful with their turboengines, have too much grip with their huge tyres and four-wheel drive, cost too much and don't let the driver do enough. 'A fun car,' he says, 'is a car that you control."
I get a real chuckle out of that comment by Mr Yoshi Sasaki makes. Are any of you guys bored with to much power, to much grip and tenacious handling in slippery conditions? From what I can see the price mirrors the 2011 WRX as well so so much for pricing advantages. It won't be a great seller unless they slip in AWD/Turbo for 2014 and then it could be something to write home about. The Celica once had a AWD Turbo back in the 80's, and it ripped. Lets face it Subaru has entered the realm of the US car mentality, and Toyota did more than a decade ago. "If I could only afford a Ferrari. " |

^ if you dont get it, you dont get it. and thats cool, theyll still make a wrx and a sti. but to keep saying this car needs a turbo and awd is missing the whole point.

^^ I guess I should have said, "with the turbo there and the intake in the front, the charge pipe routing for a FMIC would be shorter." Thus why I'm curious about retrofitting that header onto an older EJ car. For running a FMIC on my project car with less lag.
Thanks for the link though, I didn't see that there were new pictures added of the new 1.6T motor. |

If a 1.6 liter engine is used for an sti version, could that mean subaru has plans to get back into wrc? That is the regulation engine size now, is it not?

I am on the list with a Deposit made for one of the first ones...In Jan I will go to Detroit Auto Show to watch the unveiling of the US spec model...Looking sooo forward to it...Its a 'handling' vehicle...not power...I am sure there will be some N/A tweaks and some tuning to get some more HP....
