Hey thanks for making this thread. I blew my 02 2.0L 2 months ago and have been saving money to do an engine swap. I spent all weekend pulling eventhing out of the engine compartment (your pics/advice were very helpful. . .like pointing out what was attached to the underside of the intake manifold:-D) and I should be pulling the engine out tonight.

Keep fighting the good fight and thanks again!

I feel like such a chump...

When my EJ20 went to ****, I just had Don Beyer Subaru in NoVA do the work.

Oh well, sometimes it's better to avoid the headache, but it looks like a fun challenge getting one in this case

nice!!

your setup is exactly like mine, except that im running a vf22 and helix 820cc injectors (big injectors i know. just incase a gt30r decides to find a new home in my car =P). my short block from gruppe-s came packaged the same way haha.

What he said. I did a similar build but kept the stock cams. Would be interested to see what kind of gain I'm missing out on.

I've been pretty happy with the 20g and a larger topmount thus far.

My hybrid parts should be here this week or next. I went with a S2 block. With a tune, I'll be over $8500, but that's cdn$. I stuck with stock cams... didn't want to lose any low end. I'll sacrifice some top end for that I realize but hey, I'm cool with that.

Are there any issues with using the wrx heads? I didn't think so, but then I went to a shop yesterday that said that there was issues with them saying that they will cause knock...

They raise the CR to around 9:1 which is why they were probably saying that. Some think it's an issue and some don't. I went with lower compression for piece of mind although lots of people swap in the stock 2.5 bottom end with seemingly great success.

Thanks, I'm gonna start my own thread instead of hijacking this one. Great build by the way, looking forward to the finished product.

if the wrx heads raise the compression to 9:1, what octane do you run on it?

Allright... again, I totally suck. This has to be the longest engine build ever. Just finished putting in the fluids last night and the hood back on. Will be towing it to Agile tomorrow.

I have a ton of pictures of the build, along with several things that I screwed up. Will love to share.

Will post them up here in the next day or two.

Sorry for being a turd.

Tony

I'm planning on a build up somewhat like this in the fall. What came about all of your work. I like what i've seen.
