Default Is there going to be a war next week?

I haven't really been following this thing, but is it looking like the US is going to attack Iraq Sept 11th?

Ummmmm doubtful we will see a war with Iraq for some time. As far as next week???? Dude we kick the hell out of Saddam every couple of days.....Its like when our guys are bored they go drop a missle on Iraq.
We havent built up any forces in the region yet, and secondly we dont any support. I believe the only other country that supports us is Great Britian and even they are shakey

I would tend to think that the 11th would be a day of rememberance instead of fighting. But I might be wrong.

I was just curious, because the idea has quite a theatricalness to it that politicians might like.

wolf i agree with you in a way, but ALOT of countries over there have weapons they shouldn't have and ALOT of those countries who used to be our dead set allies are not so alligiant to the US anymore due to their "war on terror" tactics....they are using the eminant domain clause" here and think they can do whatever they want, whereever they want and no one will say anything.

Im not sure what we dissagree on Jeremy. I agree that there are tons of countries in the middle east that shouldnt have weapons at all let alone bio, chemical, or weapons of mass destruction. Trust me Im all for going over there and kickin the crap out of Saddam again, but I doubt we will anytime soon. I guess time will tell ya know

We've pretty much been at war with Iraq since desert storm. No fly zones, firing at SAM sites and our jets being fired at. Think about it, reverse the situation. Some country says we can no longer fly aircrafts from the Mississippi river to the eastern shore and also no flying from the Rockey Mtns to the western shore. If you do, we will escort them away, or shoot them down. If you light up a radar site on one of our planes, we will destroy it.

Just a matter of when we get the big boot out to stomp that pest. All this he has this, may have that, is trying to do this. Media smoke. This guys time is up. Our leaders have access to info we will never see (Well not ALL of us ) Trust me, he needs to be taken out, and will be. Just a matter of time. He will hear the thunder of the USA raining down on him again. I'd like to turn Iraq into an extension of the Persian Gulf. But ethical reasons would not allow that

The unfortunate thing is if we are to go back against Iraq, it's going to be different. It's not going to be in the wide open desert where our planes with GPS and laser guided munitions will be able to stomp out any resistance. It's going to be in his back yard, going house to house. And unfortunately, that's going to up the favor for him. Home turf, in the areas they already know, against an enemy who isn't used to close quarters combat.

It's unfortunate that we didn't get rid of him when we had the chance back in '91. But then again, that would have been "inhumane" and the "wrong thing to do." Course, keeping him alive was probably 20 times worse, but those nay sayers just couldn't keep their mouthes shut. Where's the duck tape when you need it.

We(Americans) need to wake up and realize a few things.

Quote:

US 'was partly to blame' for terror attacks'
By Stacy Humes-Schulz in Washington
Published: September 4 2002 0:17 | Last Updated: September 4 2002 0:17

A majority of Europeans think that US foreign policy is partially to blame for the September 11 terrorist attacks on New York and Washington.

A survey of American and European attitudes towards foreign relations found that 55 per cent of respondents from six European countries agreed that US policy had contributed to the attacks.

The poll also found widespread public support within the US for an invasion of Iraq, with 75 per cent of American respondents in favour of using military force to overthrow Saddam Hussein and incite regime change.

But both European and American respondents were cautious about the US entering Iraq alone, with 65 per cent of Americans and 60 per cent of Europeans urging the US to gain allied support and approval from the United Nations.

A mere 10 per cent of Europeans would support US military action in Iraq without backing from the UN and allies.

The survey of 9,000 Europeans and Americans was jointly undertaken by the Chicago Council on Foreign Relations (CCFR) and the German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF).

The findings also showed that terrorism is a concern for more Americans than Europeans, with 91 per cent of those polled in the US citing international terrorism as a critical threat and only 65 per cent of Europeans identifying it as extremely important.

"The tragedy of September 11 has created a seismic shift in US public attitudes about the world and America's place in it," said Marshall M. Bouton, president of CCFR.

But a majority of Americans, 52 per cent, think that the US should remain the only world superpower, while 65 per cent of Europeans said that the European Union should become a superpower similar to the US. Only 33 per cent of Americans agreed.

Yeah yeah.. And if this had happened over there, you'd see the exact reverse. In fact, we wouldn't have to worry about any part of Europe invading Iraq, because it would have already been turned into a very large piece of glass - with or without US support.

I think I already answered your question.

So you are saying that it is because of our wussy foreign policy that this happened to us? If so, I agree.

It's not news to me that the Europeans want to blame the US for an attack on the US. But it's a bunch of bull-honkey. The ones to blame are the ones who committed the act in the first place. The troubles that are going on in the Middle East are not caused by the US, it's caused by the screwed up governments in the Middle East. It's just easier and more convenient to hate America. And the Europeans are morons.

Hey, shouldn't you have said "You have my permission to have intercourse with yourself," since intercourse is a noun, not a verb?

It just would seem to make alot more sense that way.

So what you're saying is, people resent the fact that we're a superpower.

In other news, the sky is blue.

Perhaps the Europeans would prefer we wait until someone sets off an Iraqi suitcase bioweapon in the NYC subway before we take further action.

Dont misunderstand me. Im not saying Im against ousting Saddam. Im all for it. But Im very much against a military strike w/o support from other nations. If we're the only ones that think we're doing the right thing, then are we really?
And you cant deny that US foreign policy is atleast partially responsible for getting us into this mess in the first place.

Duck Tape is a brand of duct tape... either is correct... n00b Kinda like saying "Scotch" tape instead of "magic transparent adhesive tape"
