Hey all, I am another one of the 10/8 people. I finally got ahold of the manager at the head quarters. He is going to call me with more information on what is happening to the 75 Subaru WRX/STi.
I ordered 8/11/2012. I ordered a STI Limited from Glanzmann Subaru with SPT Exhaust, Short Throw, Boost Gauge. Quote:
Just trying to get some information, I will let you know what the manager says tomorrow when he calls me back with more information. |

Just ordered my 2013 Satin White WRX Hatch! Can't wait to get it. Worked my dealer down, but glad to get a solid deal done.
It looks like all of you are waiting a month and a half. Is this about right? |

I ordered on 9/10 and should be another week or two, I hope. It's been a long wait but it will be worth it I'm sure. I am going to call my dealer tomorrow and see if he has some info and a vin # for me. Good to see some of you guys finally getting rewarded for your long wait.

Welp, I had predicted that my 8/15 order would arrive by today, and I was wrong. I'll cross my fingers that it shows up by it's official 10/22 ETA.
In other news, there was a memo from Subaru today explaining the "on hold" statuses. Has this been discussed? |

I've seen the quality control thing thrown around on here, so there may be separate instances of "on hold," and this may or may not apply to yours - so take it with a grain of salt. (disclaimer)
It sounds like orders just came pouring in, and with the new allocation rules (each order counting against a future allocation), some dealers went WAY over. They have a lot of cars ordered - but no available allocation to "earn" them. If I understand correctly, all orders that went over the allowed allocation have been put "on hold" and will remain there until the next allocation, when the dealer gets more earned slots to match them with. I don't know if this is something they're starting effective now or retroactively, and again, there could be other reasons to have an order "on hold," so take it with a grain of salt. |

This thread is so depressing. Ordered 10/15, Salesman said 6-8 weeks. So I figured around Christmas to be safe. I ordered Base SWP hatch with no options other then SPT exhaust and SPT shortshifter. Hopefully the no additional request will be nice to me and get it to me in the ETA but working as a body shop I fully know how ETA's are never met haha

Ordered a limited black hatch with a STS on 10/3. No information yet from the dealer except an estimated 8-12 week delivery date.

Oh another GLORIOUS day of reading these forums while I wait for my car... |

And yes, I'm just about certain the "HOLD" and "Quality Control" issues are two completely separate beasts. My impression is "HOLD" is applied when an order is in queue for build but there are others further up in line than yours. All the "Quality Control" cars are sitting in port waiting on release to a truck when SoA does whatever it's gotta do to clear them. |

This is info I have gathered from talking to SOA and multiple dealers, so with that said take this how you want as it is kind of hear-say:
First off, the quality control inspections are going on and not only in port. Some cars there were in transit even ended up at the factory in Indiana to undergo further quality control inspections. Why? Well that I haven't found yet by talking to people but I feel there must be some issue they are looking for to go through this much trouble. Maybe some issue arose during that last heat of cars made, but like I said, haven't gotten a clear answer about this. Secondly, the whole cars being on "Hold" thing is a direct result of too many dealers ordering way above their allotted "earned" cars, thus effecting the arrival of cars for their entire region, not just the dealership itself. A couple dealers in the Indiana, Ohio, Illinois area that I have talked to even brought up Mike's name as well as several other dealers that are offering "extremely below" invoice prices to sell a higher quantity of cars and this has attributed to most of the "On Hold" statuses. Dealers that haven't even ordered all their earned cars even have ones on hold. They also said by him doing this, these dealers are devaluing the car and can have a direct impact on the resale value of the car. Two of them have said that their dealerships have actually reported these dealers to Subaru as well and this over ordering issue will now be evaluated at a national level. Also from what I've hear, remember all hear-say, another dealer was actually responsible for reporting Mike to Subaru when he had posted the Subaru ordering forms with the MSRP/Invoice pricing that he has asks people to take down when they post it back up, and is still pushing Subaru to take further action on this. Like I said before this is all hear-say and im not trying to bash anyone, just want to share what I have heard and keep others informed. |

Ugh, quality issues...I would almost rather my car fell of the truck and they built me a new one...Now I'll ALWAYS be wondering "what was wrong?"
I used to work in R&D for [insert major Japanese automotive company here] and I know how these things go, especially when it's on a time crunch to deliver vehicles. It will more than likely be some type of temporary band aid fix that will get recalled and re-fixed in a few months...or the handful of us that received "on-site field countermeasures" will be dealing with legacy issues from it for the life of the vehicle. Yes, I'm being pessimistic. It's been 4 months since I walked into the dealer ready to buy a car. All this run around is really starting to get at me. ETA +10 days... |

We both got ours about the same time and I'm already about 100 away from the end of the break in period. I think I'm becoming obsessed. I rode to work today with my girlfriend in her Hyundai Sonata and as we pulled away she asked "...did you just wave goodbye to your car?" Yes. |

I will refuse my car and make them make me a new one if they don't come clean with what is wrong. There has to be something wrong. What is it? I plan on bringing a meter to measure paint levels on my car. So if it was hit with hail or what ever, I will know they tried to patch it. Key here is, we bought a new car. NEW. Not repair. Manufacture refirbs go for about 40% off. They want to give it to me for that, I will gladly accept. Us people love Subarus. We love the product. We just want Subaru to be HONEST with us. If my engine blew, FINE! No problem. But saying, nothing was wrong, is complete and utter BS. |
