Question How much HP from these mods??

I have an 05 STi and I getting ready to put on my mods. They are as follows:

Scoobysport Downpipe 2.5" version
Scoobysport Axle Back 2.5" version
Borla Headers
Perrin Inlet Tube
Perrin dropin filter

How much WHP should I get from these mods. I will be doing some sort of engine managment next (ie Hydra) After that what should the mods net me. Thanks!

Blake

Downpipe = ~ 10-15 whp
Axle Back = ~ 2-5 whp
Header = ~10 whp
Perrin Inlet Tube = ???? probably nothing
Dropin Filter = ~1-2 whp

Altogether you'll be looking at 25-30 whp probably

Wow, thats it? For some reason I was thinking it would be more than that... Would my HP and Tourqe build sooner in the RPM range with these mods (more area under the curve..) Is 25-30 WHP noticeable? What would these mods net me in the quarter mile (assuming a good driver) Thanks!

most would agree that it would be just damn silly to do any of those mods without engine managment.

To put it in perpective, for half the cost of all the parts you mentioned, you can get
+13whp and +38ft/lbs of torque with JUST engine management.

see this thread:
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...ht=more+torque

im not pushing the cobb accessport on anybody (im a utec user), but get engine management early on in your mod-path, so you can take better advantage of any future bolt-ons.

Mods don't make power - engines make power. A box full of downpipes, headers and filters will do a 1/4 mile in 0/1 seconds, unless acted on by an outside force.

Sorry, I just had to get that off of my chest.

The DP is the big power-adder. However, you are fighting the ECU. Having the catless DP on the car WILL allow the turbo to breathe better, allowing you to build boost faster and thus, get a lot more in the very low-end. This helps at the high-end as well, hence the extra 15-20whp you'll see. You might see more boost, but remember that the ECU will try to target a lower boost when it sees the boost go high, so it will learn around the mod to some extent.

Get EM, and all of that changes.

lol good list...get EM just like they said...it should be the first thing you do if you plan on modding the car with bolt ons.

On my list for my next mod is a Hydra ECU and then a front sway bar with endlinks. I have Mucho money into suspension mods and I am just starting on the engine. I know that I need engine management, I was just wondering what the mods would net me without EM. According to crawford performance the stock STi can rev to 8000 rpm safely, now wether or not you want to is the question because obviously the stock turbo is not making power at 8000 RPM. So, I want to get the hydra ECU to provide more torque and HP along with safe power and raising my redline to 8000 RPM so I can finish the quarter mile in 4th gear. Thanks for your help guys. Oh btw, what do you guys think I will be running at the wheels with the before mentioned mods with the hydra ECU. Thanks!

I know, I just use the perrin filter because I got it for free. I figured it was better than the stock filter

cary you are making a good decision in getting the hydra just make sure you get it tuned by someone who is very familier with them (few are as of yet) if you dont get it tuned by phil himself. With those mods and no em you might lay down next to stock power as it will probably run pretty rich but once you get that hydra tuned you will be around the 300 horsepower level at a little higher boost than stock.

Ok, I just read that a guy here is running in the 12's in the quarter mile with just a turbo back. What should I expect to run in the 1320 if I take the last cat out and run cat less with my before mentioned mods...? 12.7? what trap speed? thanks!
