Exclamation WRX4FUN's crash photos

Here are BIG pics of WRX4FUN's 02 Subaru. I hope this is a wake up call to those going on the Dragon that Subys are NOT invincible, and you are never as good of a driver as you think. There always other variables beyond your control that you must deal with. Be careful....

I'll let WRX4FUN describe the accident.

A little bit of rubbing compound will buff that right out

Seriously though glad that everyone is okay and hopefully you can get it fixed soon

Default This is what happened

I was going around a turn at about 60 mph and a car was riding the line so I move to the right and when I went to come back to the center my hand slipped and I over corrected and crossed over the center line by 1 foot and there was a Dodge Ram truck with a trailer coming right at me and I glazed off his side door and struck his rear tire and twisted his rear axle then his trailer swerved in front of me and I hit it on the corner. I believe I got down to 35mph before I hit. No one was injured but my pride was shook pretty hard.

Here's the wild part the guy I hit had warrants on him and he fled the scene on foot. Also he had no license or insurance and the tag on the truck came back to a different vehicle.

Unhappy

John,

Haven't had time to post alot lately. Sorry about your car.

You took such great care of it as well. The really important thing is that no one was hurt though and I'm sure you'll come out fine in the end.

Good luck on fixing your baby or finding a replacement.

-Mike.

All I got to say is wow! What a messed up situation. At least you're ok. Oh well, like everyone else said the car is replaceable. You're life isn't.

Maybe one day that guy will realize you can't run from the law forever.

did it push the core support into the engine, it looks like it might have in this picture. if it did, I would say she's gone, if not you should be in good shape.

glad to hear you and your family are OK.

Man, that looks like it sucked. Glad you're alright. Been there, done that.

I freakin' love how safe these cars are. All that, and no broken windshield, and it looks like the door even still works. Did your side airbag fire?

just talked to John and they've totalled his car... (something about the fact that both airbags deployed and that the transmission mount broke). The car will start (the front was only pushed back slightly on the pulleys). Anyone need a parts car, might wanna see if they can get up w/ John's insurance company.

Working on that actually, you mean they are starting it with the pulleys mashed in?

Totaled?????

Im with GRoceryTurbo & Snowman, I mean if that support is ok and the rim aint bent. Alls ya gots to do my friend is pop down to the local walgreens and in the "As seen on TV" aisle grab the DING KING and simply pull all your worries out!! A matter afact the kit even comes with some Universal color compund so you can fix any scratches you may have if any after pulling the dings out.

Im sorry to make light of teh situation, I feel for you man and to be honest its a car and the most important thing is that you are alive and ok.

Nothing behind the engine including the wheels were touched. The car will actually drive but does make a loud scraping sound I beleive that sound is coming from the parts draging the ground but I could be wrong.

As near as I can tell, in a front end collision, the motor rotates backwards (imagine holding it on the side mounts, and then pick up the front), which would absorb some energy, and force the engine kinda sorta below the passenger compartment. The side effect of this, is that the transmission will pitch forward. I'm not sure if this happened to your car (it did to mine), but that might be part of the descision to total it. I would imagine, though, that this would mean transmission damage. If the tranny isn't already damaged, driving it might make it worse.

Like I said, dunno if this happened to your car, but something to think about.
