This was my second time going to the drag strip on my car. I got 4 runs in and won every race. My only power mods are cobb stage 2 with lc. My launch is set at 5k and my ffs was set at 4500 the first run and 4800-4900 the other three.
The first two runs were good but as it got colder out I got a lot of wheel spin. Do you guys launch right after you go through the water to dry off your tires? I plan on going a lot during the winter so it would be important that I have dry tires but I was thinking that launching out of the water would cause my clutch to heat up and I would end up burning it when I launch off the line.

Here are my timeslips in order and the videos are numbered in order too.

Is there anything I need to improve on? I've only done a total of 6 runs down the strip so I'm a beginner.

I go around the waterbox. I've gone through it, but get nasty wheelspin. When I go around, I get just the right amount of wheelspin.

You seem to be getting good 60s even with the wheelspin....

You should practice those shifts! You've got a 12-sec trap with a 60ft to match, but you're losing a good .5 along the way. It looks like it might be your 1-2 and/or 2-3 most of all, looking at your 1/8 mile.

At atco raceway you cant get around the water box. If you look at the first video you can see the white car behind the mustang is right in it.

Its only a few miles from me and there are no other dragstrips around here so I'm going to stick with atco.

Should I try doing a launch?

When I can't get around the water box I spin the tires with a high rpm launch. You just have to be careful of wheel hop. This will get all the junk of the tires and dry them off a bit before you launch. Before I tried this I couldn't get better than a high 1.8 60ft. Now I can pull off low 1.7s with no problem.

Great 60ft times. That stock turbo is crapping out on you on the top end.

Has anyone tried using the dccd for extra traction? I would think setting it to lock would help a bit. I might go to the strip tomorrow and its pretty cold out.

i usually put the dccd to the rear and do a burnout , leave it there and pull 1.6 60" all day long . Feels nice comming off the line with the rear going sideways like a RwD beast

Should I put it all the way to the rear then? Last night it was 38 degrees and there was so much wheel spin that I was drifting to the side of the track and I couldn't pull more then a 1.8 60'

I also lowered my launch rpm some and that didn't do much.

5k is pretty low for the launch control, so if you're spinning tires you DEFINITELY need to avoid the water.

There is no way to go around it? That's the impression I got.

leave the DCCD in auto. The car is much smarter than you and will put the power where it needs to be to get you off the line as efficently as possible.

If it's 38 degrees outside the track is obviously cold as **** and so are your tires. You cannot cut outstanding 60' times in these conditions.

I don't think I'm spinning the rear wheels that much so I thought I would try using the dccd. I asked this question because I don't want to just start messing with the settings and break something or have the back end come out and put me in the wall. I know there are other people who have tried changing the settings.
