OK, USF1 is the real deal
From F1-Live:

As far as the logistics concerns, I have heard that they will have a repair/maintenance/staging facility in Spain, but build everything over here in the States

I hope they have the ability to move to Europe if needed. While technically they don't need to be based there, I think it helps a lot with getting good people and suppliers.

Yeah but I decided that the recent update warranted a new thread title. I am no longer asking if USF1 is real/fake -- we are now discussing the prospects of this confirmed upstart
Actually....you're a mod...could you merge the old posts into this thread? |

I don't have powarz in Motorsports, but it's probably good enough just to let the old one die, lest we re-start the "NASCAR sux0rs!!!11" debate all over again

Gotcha. I'm just getting out today, so I'm probably not an unbiased source, but the US is much better job market wise.

I'm assuming he's talking about the initial R&D of it, but it still seems silly. I don't think that people in the US can't make a car, but getting the right people is going to be difficult. If Toyota has problems getting people into Germany, how is USF1 going to get people to the US?

Crawford Composites and Riley Technologies, both of which have experience building high downforce composite chassis are in Mooresville, and I'm pretty sure that there's and ex-F1 aerodynamicist that works for Crawford. |

There was a good editorial on USF1 this week on Autosport.com.

I know there are people in the US who could do it. The problem is getting people who know all the ins and outs of F1, politically for example, and other issues that make it so that the team will be less successful than they could be.

That article is getting my hopes up. This is bad. I need to prepare myself for the team to suck for a while IF it goes forward. All this talk of the team having it really good and definitely happening is going to set my expectations way too high.

why oh why did I chose UCF over Clemson?!?!?
Though if the job in england doesnt work out, grad school in england doesnt work out, I guess I have another place to go for my F1 dreams. Grad school at Clemson should be cake to get into. Screw the MBA, Masters in Aero Engineering would have to be the choice. |
