Ok wondering what i'm talkin about, well Cryogenics or cold dipping, is an incredible way of striengthing ANY metal.
i'm not going to run on and i'm not advertising anything, but check out www.300cryo.com. There everything will be explaned AND it's CHEAP....!!!! Next set of brake rotors I get are goin for cold dippin and the new clutch and flywheel and maybe i'll have someone machine down my stock wheels to about 14lbs after dippin them. Who knows the possibilities are almost endless. Take a look AaRoN

Yep I have already heard of this before. It was one of the options a friend got done to his 87 Grand National after it blew its trans. You can also get things heat hardened. It souldn't like a good idea to do to the axles, diffs and the other drivetrain parts if you are going high horsepower. If your getting a trans done your better off taking it to a performance trans shop like Deltrans or Level Ten. From what I have seen of the hardening it does hold up alot better.

I think SCC did this to some of their parts for their 300ZX project.

Cryogenics is a great process - you just want to be sure that the process is a dry process. The wet process will actually stress the metal more than it will help. I have had a couple of firearms done with this process and the results are terriffic. I would definately recommend this process!

I just ordered a set of replacement front rotors for my Legacy earlier this week from Diversified Cryogenics ( www.frozenrotors.com ). I found out about the process on this board, then posted a question about it on the Road Race/Auto-x board at the Mustang site I go to. Got some really positive feedback from there, so I went for it. Subaru OEM rotors, cryo treated, shipped for about $260 or so (rotors alone are $72 apiece).
I also am going to be upgrading my Mustang very soon with 13" front/12" rear Baer racing brakes - I'm going to get those rotors treated too. Pat Olsen '99 Legacy 2.5GT 5 speed sedan |

Actually I believe that they dipped the whole engine block to strengthen it more on Project 300ZX(SCC).
