Question Anyone driven the H6 (if its out already) yet?

Just wondering. I have a 2000 Legacy (plain jane) as loaner for now and the idea of more cargospace grows on me. The Legacy is a bit slow (can't really kick the loaner, its too new), more torque would be a lot of fun and the 212 hp of the H6 must be cool, too.
Anyone?

I believe the H6 this year will be in the Outback only. My dealer/sponsor took them out to the local track - SIR - this last weekend and said that they were amazing to say the least... very quick... but that the Outback was all they had in the H6 at this point...

and the cost??? around 32K

Hey Frank,

I had an H6 a few weekends ago. very nice, but not anywhere near eyeball flattening acceleration. A very very nice, plush ride, but not sporty enough for my personal preferences. Personally I'll use them for long road trip type drives.

I don't think quick is a good word though. Smooth maybe, but not quick. You have to rev it a bit to get in the meaty torque....

The McIntosh stereo is very cool though.

I just got to drive the H-6 on Concord Motsports Park. I was pretty impressed. Look under the related topic in this forum to see the full comments area. The H-6 is ONLY available in the Outback Limited LLBean edition and the Outback Limited VDC (Vehicle Dynamics Control) edition, and will not be offered in any other models "this year". LL Beans will start at $28990, VDC's will start at $30990.

The 2.5 litre motor, if my experience is anything to go by, loosens up considerably with use. Loaners, unless they're thrashed/old, will feel tight and reluctant to rev. After 10-15,000 miles, the engine became far more pleasurable to use, and would wind out to the limiter quite happily.

Our CAP (pre production) car actually has quite a few miles on it, and a fellow SRD employee even took it to Minnesota one weekend to help the casue. I didn't put a ton of miles on the car personally (maybe a few hundred over the weekend I had it) but was impressed by the way it handled some of the worst streets here in Metro Detroit, while my girlfriend fell asleep in the passenger seat. It was pouring that night too. My girfriend tends to be a nervous passenger during stuff like that, so I think it speaks a lot to the refinement of the new car...
