Default Unknown tune 2005 2.5RS, returning to stock

I recently purchased a 2005 2.5RS

Previous owner says it has a "tune". I inquired as to what this meant and he stated it has an ECU flash from OpenECU. It was 'done by a shop in SoCal' he says. The guy isn't the brightest and getting specifics from him has been tough.

The car only has (had) an intake and exhaust, with no other modifications. I'm returning the motor to OEM specs and just focusing on suspension mods/work. Looking for OE reliability out of the powertrain.

I currently have a check engine light for misfire and my O2 sensors are junk I assume. I am going to replace those, but I have a feeling that the car is tuned a bit rich based on previous experience with tuning and simply the smell of the exhaust.

Having no history on what was done, what software was used, or any specifics, my questions are very simple.

Is there a way for me to get back to an exact Subaru OEM ROM tune on this thing?

Can I buy a replacement ECU and get it matched to my immobilizer?

Can I re-flash back to stock on my existing ECU at the dealer?

Is there a way to even see if this thing isn't already stock and the guy wasn't just lying?

Someone posted a copy of a stock 2005 2.5RS ROM image at http://forums.openecu.org/viewtopic....&t=1205&p=9615. Don't know whether its for a manual or automatic or whether there's any difference.

YMMV

Thanks for the lead! Anybody know if I can just buy a stock ECU from another 2005 2.5RS and have it set up for my immobilizer at the dealer? I feel like playing with random ROMs is a crapshoot, and if I have to pay a few hundred just to get the equipment to do it, an OE replacement from ebay would be comparable in price.

Are you sure 2005 has immobilzer? I don’t think it did , only legacy and outback and then only certain models.

The stock ROMs here are very reliable: http://www.romraider.com/forum/viewt...hp?f=35&t=7591 Once you download the stock ROM, you can compare it with the one currently on your car to see what the differences are.

Yeah I heard that you can't flash someone else’s/just any ROM even if it's the same ID (never tried it...), but you could always compare, and copy/paste the differences.
