hood scoop and vents
Has anyone pulled off the panels under the hood scoop and vents?
Any advantages/disadvantages? Any problems caused by removing the panels? |

<FONT face="Comic Sans MS">Everyone, go easy.... . I have both vent plates off and my hood plate cut open (long story). No problems at all to report. If you have a cold air intake with a cone filter right under the vent, you might want to reconsider as rain will wreak havoc. Three or four people will post that the battery can't get wet- hogwash, as it does anyway from A) the drain holes in the plate and B) from the water that sprays in behind the drivers headlight and between the headlight and the hood.

I have the vents spaced to let hot air out, but haven't done anything with the hood scoop plate. Probably won't, either, but that's just me. Lucky this is your first post, anybody asking that question with more than 10 posts would get shredded! You probably don't know about it, but there is a "search" function up in the upper right area, and a lot of times, you can find the answers you need by looking there. Just a little sumpin' fer next time

I removed the hood scoop plate and will be adding spacers this weekend for the vents. Taking the blocking plate off the hood scoop was easy. Like 15 screws and 2 of those irritating compression rivet thingees. I'd have done the vents at the same time, but I didn't have any spacers...

I took the center vent off, and put 2 layors of window bug screen instead. No worries of debris going in and hitting the airbox. No problems whatsoever so far.
