Yes. Read the FAQ's at the top of the forum.

Cost will be whatever you can pick up a transmission, clutch and flywheel for plus the cost of the installation. Clutch and flywheel are about 6-800 depending on what you want and the transmission really depends on what transmission you want to run in the car.

few wiring issues are;

1. light wiring from your new MT pedal box
2. reverse lights
3. you starter interlock(you need to trick the ignition into thinking its in PARK) not very hard
4. key capture solenoid should be unplugged so that it won't grab your key!

e-mail me if you have any more detailed questions

I'm in the process of doing this right now. You'll also want to removal the a/t wiring harness and the shift computer too. I have the 5mt wiring harness, so i'm just splicing that into the car's harness and hopefully it will work without issue.
I'm pretty sure the brake pedal switch is the same for the manual and auto cars, so you should be fine there. There is some kind of switch on the clutch. I think it's optional if you want to install this. I might just because.
I would like to know more though from anyone who has done it so i don't mess up my car.
Thanks
Brent

search my username for info on this. it will end up costing you $2000-$3000 assuming you're paying for labor.

Default 06 forester 5mt swap

I have an 06 forester that I have swapped from a 4eat to a 5mt, now everything works great the only problem is i now have a CEL light and cannot check this. Since the swap everything works except there is no communication from my scanner to the data port. Everything works great speedo, no high idle, no 4k rev limit everything is good 3xcept the communication at the data plug

Does anyone have any idea on qhat the problem is or how I can go about fixing it

Hey guys
Is it possible to swap the JDM V4 4.44 MT into my USDM without much difficulty?
There is a guy near me selling one for a reasonable price (Or at least reasonable in my eyes), and included is an ACT clutch and flywheel, all the axles, and the rear diff.
Also, sorry if it seems like a newbish kind of question. I literally just created an account and am still lacking a bit in the knowledge department when it comes to swapping things.
One other thing: The current transmission is a 4EAT.

Go to a junkyard and get: tranny, pedals, wiring harness, probably a new piece of interior trim that covers the shifter if they’re different for manual vs auto, blah blah. Do it. It’ll be fun once it starts up and you’ll learn a lot 👍

Ive been researching for weeks trying to get info on my swap. Im hoping you guys can clear some things up or point me to a thread i somehow missed

I have a 2002 ImprezaTS with an auto trans, i also have a 1997 impreza wagon with a 5mt. I should have all the parts to move the 5mt into my 02 bugeye. I just want to know if im gonna have wiring issues jumping between generations, speed sensors etc. The only info i can find is people swapping newer transmissions into GC models, but not the other way around.

has anyone put a GC 5mt into an GD 4eat impreza?

I did it at the beginning of the month. If you can get your hands on a parts car it'll be loads easier. Don't try to swap looms (it was a waste of time and I gave up). Mechanically its pretty well LEGO. Wiring wise, starter, shift lock (the key gets stuck) and speedo are all you NEED. Back up lights are nice though. Dm me if you have questions. I did it on a 99 with 04 parts btw.
