Question 2016 WRX: what are my options beyond factory?

I'm probably due for struts, the WRX has about 116k on her and I have factory struts and coils.

I'm wondering if the newer models WRX prior to the 2022 release will work on the mounting points of a 2016 WRX and if so does anyone know if the struts that came out year-over-year are better than the 2016 struts and if so, what does everyone recommend?

In my previous car, I did Koni Yellow inserts on Eibach lowering spring, I modified my previous car a lot, but this WRX is pretty much stock; only STB for the front, and slotted/driller rotors front/rear, and hyper gram wheels coupled with Cooper RS3's. I also have a CVT, with limited trim. (before you harp - I have little kids and my wife didn't want me to drive a manual with kids, so got CVT as the compromise) Sadly, Koni only does rear struts for the WRX, but not fronts quite yet. I did like to 'dial in' my comfort levels with the Koni's.

Anyways, just curious if others have opinions on strut replacements over factories. I don't know if I'll get lowering springs, but I do plan to get an APR 200 wing in the spring, so I might need to get lowering springs, so curious if any of the struts can handle a slightly lowered stance.

Curious if there is a list someplace of the struts based on year from 2016 onward someplace.

in closing, imagine it would be cheaper to order struts before going to the dealership and if I do, are there parts or things the dealership would bitch about that I didn't order that would make them not install them. Thinking ahead.

Thanks in advance for your time.

I don't have experience with them but the closest you'll get to Konis or OEMs would be Racecomp Engineering GTWorx struts.

According to Rockauto.com, Bilstein makes dampers for your generation. Seems like a great option to me.

Cmon man, what’s more important, wife and kids or a manual trans. I think we all know the answer.

wife and kids are more important. I really have no problems with the CVT, the car is paid off.

Already have 32k saved up for the next one. Will probably get the next version as a CVT too.

Eyesight is worth its weight, literally. The extra weight of the CVT coupled with Eyesight has saved my bacon more times than I can admit. The manual is kool, but safety is the next generation of Subaru and to me superior to kool.

looked at those Bilstein stocks; I'll probably get them to replace the shocks. I plan to get the APR 200 and front dam in the spring, so upgrading the shocks might be a good idea. Might even get the Perrin rear swap bar to stiffen the rear a bit more.

I don't want to do any kind of performance changes or staging. I did all that in my previous car and it honestly wasn't worth it. The small things make the most difference like STB, upgraded brakes, light wheels, and proper tread. I'm way more of a handling and agility person than power.

The small things you learn from 1st cars; this is my 5th sports car.
