![]() I'm using this sticky as an excellent opportunity to gain my 5 "Legitimate" posts, so I can post a classified ad in the wanted section.
I have an 1986 GL-10 turbo, all factory, with the pneumatic air suspension (that works!) and a 1993 Subaru Loyale 5 speed FWD

![]() I'm going to be swapping in an EJ18 that I'm currently resealing that came from a 96 FWD 5 speed Impreza. I'm going to be installing this in my FWD 93 Loyale using both the EJ18 and it's EJ transmission.

![]() Hey guys just got my engine into my 92 loyale about 3 weeks ago just picked up a new radiator and this last weekend I started to hear a clunk when turning it was a clunk and some clicking it's a good thing I checked it instead of writing it off as a cv joint because the ball joint failed it didn't completely come out but it came close so as I cleared out my garage and tomorrow I'll be firing up the kerosene heater and go to town on it I already got my new ball joint I've been spraying the pinch bolt the past few days the only thing that sucks is I live an hour away from where I'm able to work on it and the temps here in South Dakota are getting down there right now it's just above 7 degrees the car anyway has 167k the engine I used tho has 269k did the timing belts on it when I got that car for free but rust got to it and the struts went into the trunk well they were stopped from going full in by the back portion of the rear seats the car I have now is a wagon and a 02 forester which is my wife's were getting ready for income tax time as we're going to be moving out by Yakima valley in Washington i don't usually post stuff but I've been into subarus for a few years now and We just can't see ourselves getting any other cars when I first made a post on this site I had a 98 forester that came from the south that thing saved my life but it took its own there was a car accident that happened right in front of me I tried to get out of the way but the rear got clipped and sent me into a spin and flipped the forester it rolled about 7 times I didn't get a scratch and was going 65 when it happened anyway once we get to Washington I'm going to find either an ea81 or do a ej swap I was thinking ej18 with a turbo setup just for fun can't go wrong either way lol

![]() Hello,
I wonder why here are no seperate threads about the different Subies. The one I want to show you is just 12 years old and still looks quiet modern. Is it the right forum? And does anyone in America has this car, too? It is the R1: My mate found it at tradecarview.com: ![]() After uying it the independent car check in Japan was successful. ![]() A few weeks later it has gone on the ship to Germany: ![]() Another 6 weeks later it arrived in Bremerhaven, Germany and we transfered it to Hamburg with a short time number plate: ![]() ![]() To built all things like the lamps to the righthand traffic was a lot of work... ![]() A few months later it was ready and now it still drives without problems through Hamburg and the Autobahn: At the tunnel beneath the Elbe river I hope that was enough and in the correct forum ![]() Frank |

![]() The US never received the Tiny Kei Cars, but as they near the 25 year import rule, they may start to show up on US roads.
But its funny how its styling looks like a Tiny B9 Tribeca that the US did get. ![]() ![]() |

![]() Ya I would not really call that car old school, though it doesn't really fit into any other categories on this site either. We never got those here in the US, the Justy is the closest we ever got.

![]() Hey folks,
I found this forum whilst doing one of many parts searches. I've had a 1986 1/2 Subaru 3-door turbo coupe/hatchback for... 20-odd years, I purchased it in 1997 from the original owner. It's been a bit of a mystery model for most of its life: the VIN & registration make it a GL Turbo, as does the maroon color. The Subaru only shop that has kept it in shape for the entire two decades I've owned it has always considered it an RX, and generally that's the parts match when we need them. It's been a daily driver since I purchased it, clocking about 242,000 miles this year, original engine et. al., with no major issues except the expected head gasket a few years back. I'm wondering if anyone else has run into a similar car? I've seen RX's occasionally, almost always the white ones. I have yet to run into another GL Turbo hatchback like mine though. About a week ago someone did a hit & run on my baby, taking out the front quarter panel, wheel, strut, & suspension on the drivers side. Insurance has totalled it as expected, but my shop & I decided to keep it and do our best to get it back on the road... it would be sad to have what seems to be a one-off car taken out in such an unfair way, IMO. Here are a couple of the most recent photos of it whole and happy. I'd love to hear from anyone who's run into another one! Note: this isn't the original paint; I bumped a post in a parking garage about 9 years ago and ended up replacing the drivers side quarter panel, and had it painted to match the original color when all was said and done. Hence you can't see the '4WD' insignia that should be right below the side trim and in front of the rear wheel wells. |

![]() Oh, a note to anyone else with a Suby of the same era: the insurance valuation came back at $2500. Granted, it's a lot less that I feel it's worth, but it's also a lot more than I had expected for a 30 yo non 'American Classic' car. Fyi, in case anyone is wondering.

![]() ![]() ![]() Hey guys new to the forum here, used to be on years ago with my 95 gc. Just picked up this 92 loyale survivor, 40k original miles. Fwd, everything works, just had to replace the original alternator yesterday. Amazing find. I’m planning a build to go from fwd with the ea82 to a full mid 90s 2.2l awd setup with a 4eat or 5mt. So glad I found this old school forum! And yes, the racing stripes are made of tape. Previous owner. |

![]() Battleloyale: The alternators like to go out in these. My GL used to eat a lifetime warranty alternator about every 6-12 months.

![]() I have an 84 GL wagon with 4 speed manual and Hi-Low 4WD. It has recently started making noise when I go around a right or left hand corner. The noise is a function of the road speed, but happens during steady speed, acceleration and deceleration. It is somewhere between a ticking and sort of chuckling sound. I put the vehicle up on jack stands and checked the lube level in the rear differential, and it was fine. When spinning the wheels both forward and backward, no noise and the the opposite wheel turns in the opposite direction. The boots on the axles are not split. I could not detect any movement when I attempted to move the top or bottom of the wheels in and out.
Any suggestions for the source of the noise? Thanks in advance. |
