not really....
im basically trying to make the most power possible, with a powerband useable under 7500rpm and somewhere around 30-32 psi.... so that basically narrows it down to a gtx30-35.....i just dont know how much the powerband of the gtx35 would suck being limited to 32psi and 7500rpm based on perrins data i think the gtx30 might provide better area under the curve with those restrictions |

If you can make 500whp on Airboy and have a 2900-2700lb car with driver, you should be able to low 10s and maybe a high 9sec with a trap speed of 140mph |

Sounds like an interesting set of goals. Go for it!! Just keep in mind gear drop with sizing the powerband. for a drag car, stack those VEs only where they're needed

I agree with Ron completely, no need for a gigantic turbo that need NOS to spool, that falls out the power band between shifts, that breaks every time you drive it.
Try to make the car as light as possible, and strive to make power without pushing the motor over the edge. Also try to keep torque low since torque breaks everything. For my car I am shooting for 500whp Airboy and 400wtq I should give me a 140mph and my tranny should survive. Ron I also recommend getting some racing seats I save like 20lbs per seat, nrg racing are 15lbs a piece, buddy clubs are 12-13lbs. I have nrg's because they were no buddy clubs in the usa at the time. Or you can spend 4k on 5 lb racetech seat |

I've seen you at the strip Ron. You're gonna need a GTX55 at least to get those times you posted j/k What are you shooting for e.t. wise? There are people that have run 10s on 18G's too. Why not go 16G and one up those punks |

I know you are suspect of the long rod and that's not at all what I was talking about. I really couldn't care one way or the other what people think of it. I was just hoping to see someone turn up the wick, who has the knowledge (tools) to do so. IBwaitingforeveronmyharness |

Hey quick chime in guys thanks for tuning in for the build, its a very exiting project for us both! The lw brake setup is a true bolt on app. Testing will come soon! The ewg muffler is a great enhancement to any turbo vehicle. The sound is reduced, ridding you of the harsh open header sound and tuned to give you that exotic car sound when your juicin! I love running the baricade lined fwy passes haha, the echo is superb! Subarari! Please pm any ?
Thanks alot ! Engine and cage work to come shortly Kenny Alliance Fabrications |

With EM, the stress on cylinder #4 is reduced (factory det test dummy) and with proper tuning, it isn't going to just give up the ghost. It is the one prone to faliure but doesn't mean it's weak. EJ257 = stronger than Manley H-beams....too soon? j/k Ron, you spent like $1000 on seats and are complaining about the cost of custom billet engine parts? Should have bought a Kirkey drag seat for $150 or drag econo for like $110 if money is the deciding factor. Last edited by Homemade WRX; 03-28-2011 at 10:00 AM. |

Omg....I havent complained about any price....i commented on it.
But there is a big difference between the $500 shipped seats I got and a $6000 motor..... And buying $500 seats by themselves is also alot different than dropping $10k on motor, standalone, turbo kit, brakes, coiovers, etc etc in one shot. |

true, sorry...'commmenting on' not 'complaining about'.
I really ought to just get mass produced Chinese H-beams like everyone else and start my vendor account again. Then I could probably sell a bunch of the kits. I didn't think $6k on a new block with a modded oil pump and full gasket kit was that bad. Especially considering the ACLs were calico coated, the Custom JE sleugs had tool steel wrist pins, custom CR, upgraded rings and the rods were custom Pauter...Guess I should have gone like Crawford and charged $6k with +2mm i-beams and OTS style JE pistons but just 2mm shorter CH. None of the rest of the parts... Really doesn't matter. I still think you have a cool project going and want to see what the 'gutted' GD with a 35R can do. I really hope Ron goes with the GTX3076 it would be crazy fast fun car, Remember Coolrex when 10.2-3 @ 135-137 with a regular 35r .63 AR IIRC, on a way heavier car. |
