VW/Audi peeps...best chip for the 1.8T Audi TT?
My friend has a first-year Audi TT that he bought new, and has put few miles on and done nothing to. He wants a bit more zoom out of it, and as far as I know, the 1.8T is a very chippable car, and you can free up a good bit of power from the 'detuned' stock ecu.
Does anyone here have any recommendations for a chip? He's a surgeon, and knows nothing about cars at all, I know subies and exotics, but nothing about vw/audis... Help please? Thanks, P03w |

The 2 good chips are made by GIAC and APR. A google search will find you their websites. |

The main makers of chips, APR, GIAC and Upsolute are all very similar. Upsolute is a slightly lower boost chip on the earliest VW 1.8t engines. Since the turbo is a little different on the TT's, it may be the same boost level as the others on that engine.
Which version of the TT does he have? 180hp or 225hp? I have an Upsolute on my 2000 1.8t GTI and I'm very happy with it. All chips will give large gains on the 1.8t's since they're underpowered from the factory. The TT's are less underpowered than the GTI and Jetta, but good gains can still be had. I'll second the vwvortex suggestion, but you'll probably just find chip owners suggesting the chip that they already have. He really can't go wrong with any of the big names....just tell him to find the dealer/installer closest to him and go with that. |

I believe it is the 180 hp very first version...this will be the only mod, no stage 4 here.
Thanks for your thoughts so far... P03w |
