Early 02 TS to WRX brake upgrade.
I've found lots of info on upgrading TS to WRX brakes (front), but I'm unsure of the best way to go.
So, am I right in thinking all I need are rotors, Brackets, and backing plates? Or would it be easier to just get WRX calipers with the brackets attached? How much more pad surface does the WRX pad have than the TS? Or are they pretty much the same, except for the brackets? Thanks.

I've done the wrx front rotor upgrade. All you really need are brackets and rotors. The pads are the same. I did not change backing plates.
Be careful when buying the brackets though. You DO NOT want the 02 wrx brackets. You need the late 03-05 wrx brackets. The 02 and early 03 turbo cars share the same caliper as the gc cars. While us na folks were the guinea pigs for the newer slyle caliper. My ts has a build date of march or april 2001 and has the newer calipers. Hope that helps, Chad |

Really? Well, that is certainly good to know! I think I have rotors lined up, I just need brackets.
It looks like we have the same vehicle. An early 02 (built in 01) black TS. So, when I shop for performance pads from Hawk or somebody else, if I get pads for an 04-05 WRX, they will fit my existing TS calipers, right? That is really helpful info, man. Thanks! Quote:

exactly. I made the mistake of buying pads for an 02 wrx a long time ago. They don't fit. The tabs on the ends of the pads are too big for our calipers. I'm sure you can find them used in the fs forum though. Last edited by chadr111; 03-01-2008 at 06:06 PM. |

The link goes to this part number: 26225AE000
I thought those were the RS/early WRX caliper brackets. I think that's exactly the wrong part you suggested I avoid. I reference this thread: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=610530 So, that should work for the GC calipers, which you say are the same as the 02 WRX, but not us TSs with the newer calipers. Right, or am I missing something? It should be these, right? http://tinyurl.com/3aljku The 'SA' brackets instead of the 'AE' Though, I would hope that www.subaruwrxparts.com should get it correct. If your info is accurate, the site has the wrong calipers listed for the upgrade. |

oops! I'm starting to confuse things now. I'll delete the link. It might be best to e-mail them with your build date just to be safe.
Edit: ok, I went to the garage and found the box that the bracket came in, it is part # 26225sa000 Last edited by chadr111; 03-01-2008 at 06:12 PM. |
