Default Head gasket might be blown

How hard of a job is this to fix. The dealer said that there might be a leak in the head gasket. If so, I'm looking at a $1100.00 job. Plus $200.00 to "resurface" the heads. Whatever that means. OUCH!!!

If this is the case are there better replacement gaskets that are less prone to breaking, or stronger than stock for people with a heavy right foot?
